Brittany Mcvicker on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Brittany Mcvicker and have shared our conversation below.

Brittany, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately I’ve been really into junk journaling. I’ll put little things from the day on one side – like photos, receipts, ticket stubs.. just anything cute that reminds me of what I did. Then I write on the other side, kind of like a regular journal. I actually left one of my journals at a hotel in New York which was so sad because it had a lot of stuff I wanted to keep. But I’m starting a new one now and honestly I’m excited to make it even better.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Brittany McVicker. I’m an actor, model, and producer. I’ve always been obsessed with storytelling and creating beautiful visuals, whether that’s through a film, a photoshoot, or even just a moment that feels cinematic. I love working on projects that feel personal but still make space for play and edge. Right now I’m focused on a few film projects I’m super excited about, and also developing something creative that blends art and community in a really fresh way.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I would say my mom saw me clearly before I ever saw myself. She passed away when I was young, but I always felt like she just got me. Like even before I had any idea who I was or what I’d grow up to be, she kind of already knew. I think that’s something only a mom can do. It took me a while to understand just how much that early connection shaped me. She had vasculitis, which not a lot of people know about, so now I try to keep her memory alive by supporting the Vasculitis Foundation and sharing a little about it when I can. It’s something that stays with me every day .. even in small ways.

What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
Honestly, I used to think failing was like, the worst thing ever. Like, if I messed up, that meant I wasn’t gonna make it. But then I completely flipped that. Failing just showed me I was trying, you know? It’s like, you don’t get the glow-up without some rough patches. So now? I’m not scared to fail.. I’m actually kinda proud of it, because it means I’m out here doing my thing.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m all about playing the long game. I believe that if you really want something, you can’t just expect it to happen overnight. Whether it’s building your brand, your career, or just your life, it takes patience, hustle, and staying true to what you want. I’m committed to doing me and making moves on my own terms, no matter how long it takes. Because in the end, that doesn’t happen by rushing – it happens by showing up every day and putting in the work.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
Well, my family invented Play-Doh, so that’s a pretty high legacy bar to be like, how are you even supposed to top that?
I just think life is so short, and I really just wanna do what I wanna do. For me, that happens to be in the arts, taking it day by day. It’s just too short to worry about legacy stuff, you know? I hope people come away inspired to go after what they really want in life (like what their heart truly desires) and not settle for anything less.
