Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Huanxi Jiang

Huanxi Jiang shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Huanxi, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Recently, I moved to California, and in my neighborhood I often see different animals. On my first day, I made eye contact with a peacock and watched it fly down from a rooftop and land outside my house. I felt amazed to have such beautiful creatures living nearby.

Since then, while jogging, I’ve seen bunnies, coyotes, squirrels, and even quails. All of these wonderful animals brighten my day. Watching how they interact with humans and with each other always makes me smile. Those little moments truly make my day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Huanxi Jiang, an illustrator and surface designer who finds inspiration in the beauty of everyday life and nature’s wonders. My art often features animals, children, and the stunning landscapes that surround us.
I love exploring nature and experimenting with different materials like watercolor, oil, acrylic, color pencil, oil pastel, and digital painting. Layering colors is my favorite technique—it adds depth and richness to my illustrations.
My goal is simple: to spread joy and peace through my art. Whether I’m traveling or sketching in my studio, I’m always chasing those magical moments that make life extraordinary.I believe that art has the power to communicate, to transcend boundaries, and to illuminate the beauty that surrounds us. Through my work, I strive to capture fleeting moments of beauty and translate them into visual narratives that resonate with the soul.I believe illustrations can speak to people’s hearts and remind them of the beauty in life.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
The first time I broke an apple in half with my hands, I felt so powerful. After that, I started bringing apples to school so I could share them with my friend. Every time, I’d split one right in front of her, and she’d look so amazed, which made me feel proud and happy. Those little moments were the best!

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Cherish every moment you have and everyone you love. Those little moments are life’s real treasures. They might feel ordinary at the time, but they hold so much power—even years later. That kind of love and connection stays with you, deep in your heart, and it gives you strength whenever you need it.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Not completely. The public version of me is definitely real, but it’s only one part of the whole picture. What I share is true to who I am, but it’s just some parts of me. Honestly, there are so many little moments in my life that make me smile, but sometimes I’m too lazy to post them. And I like that. I think some moments feel more special when they stay just mine, like hidden treasures I keep close to my heart.

When it comes to my art and creativity, the things I share are also a part of me. Every piece I post is something I love and something that feels true to who I am in that moment. But still, people aren’t just one layer—we’re made of so many experiences, thoughts, and feelings. There are even parts of myself I’m still figuring out. So, the public me is real, but there’s a lot more underneath, and I think that mystery makes life interesting.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember me as someone who was kind and brought a little happiness to their day. Someone who cared and made them feel noticed. I’d like them to say I was real, creative, and helped them see the good in the small things. Basically, I want my story to be about love, good moments, and living life in a way that feels right.
