Julian Vidaurrazaga of Los Angeles on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Julian Vidaurrazaga. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Julian, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Recently my grandma Mariloli passed down a truck that belonged to my great grandfather Jesus, he passed away back in August 2023 and I have been working on it ever since I got it. Before this truck I knew nothing about cars, but now I know how to do oil changes, change a instrument cluster, and work on many other things in a car, so this makes me really proud and I know my great grandfather Jesus would be proud of me too.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi everyone, my name is Julian Vidaurrazaga, I am a 17 year old Latino actor, soon to be 18 on September 27. I am a proud Mexican Salvadorean American. I began my acting career at only 11. My passion for acting started when I was a toddler. I loved playing as a super hero, specifically Spiderman and I knew since a very young age that I wanted to be an actor. Slowly but surely I navigated the entertainment industry alongside my mother who supported my acting career as my manager, assistant, driver, mom, friend and who is still all of that for me. I have done many films/tv show/voice overs/music videos/animated series/audio dramas throughout my career as an actor.

I come from loving hard working parents whose dream was only to provide a better future for their kids and today I am grateful to them for giving us such a great opportunity. I currently filmed a movie where I played a surfer and I can’t wait for you all to see it. I am also currently working on a voice over project which due to an NDA, I am not able to talk about it.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
Growing up I witnessed the struggles of my parents regarding their income and work. During this stage and still to this day I have learned many great lessons regarding work and how it should be done. My father taught me how to be efficient and mindful of my responsibilities when taking up opportunities. My mother taught me another side of ethical working, to do what you love as this one life isn’t worth living out doing something meaningless to yourself. This enabled and pursued me to be efficient, fair, humble, and responsible when pursuing opportunities involving my career as an actor. For this simple but effective knowledge regarding work ethic, I have my parents to thank.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
One kind thing that I would say to my younger self is to keep moving forward while staying true to yourself. One thing is evident in this industry, and that’s how much rejection you’ll face as an actor. Most can or will become discouraged leading to them quitting or even changing who they truly are. This piece of advice is what I’d give my younger self and especially to those looking to progress in the industry, you are unique, don’t let the industry change who you are.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Ever since I was young I loved watching marvel movies and anything with heroes in it, my favorite being Spider Man, with Wolverine becoming my 2nd favorite as I grew older to understand the pain of the character. A project I believe I am committed to is becoming a superhero within the marvel universe, for the longest I could remember I wanted to become Spider Man. In recent circumstances I realized my height will not allow that to happen, being 5’2. Jumping at the opportunity, I envisioned myself as the future Wolverine fulfilling the comic accurate variant who stands at 5’3. Evidence of this commitment has to started to really show, especially to my family as I have been continuously working out to embody the image, all while continuing to work at the character.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people will look to me as a symbol of creativity, humbleness, and hard working. As for the story I hope that those who hear it will see both the losses and successes within it. A man who saw a dream, failed, rebuilt, and came back stronger not just to preserve his own needs but also to inspire and lift those around him instilling a sense of courage and integrity.
