Today we’d like to introduce you to Bruce Baek
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Born in South Korea, this life long New Yorker has made Los Angeles his second home, becoming an Angelino. Previously a full time college professor, I have transitioned to a full-time actor and is now building a global band. I have worked on several Hollywood projects, including “The Flight Attendant (HBO),” “Monarch: The Legacy of Monsters (Apple TV+),” and “The Recruit (Netflix)” and many more. I serve as a testament to the fact that it is never too late to change your career path and follow your heart and intuition.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The landscape of Hollywood, particularly for Asian Americans, has undergone consistent transformation and faced numerous challenges. The concept of “diversity” has always been fraught with difficulties in my opinion. While the advent of the “streaming” era has provided increased opportunities for many actors, the day-to-day challenges of being a full-time working actor remain largely unaddressed and uncertain.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an ACTOR. As an actor, I have persevered through numerous challenges and setbacks, maintaining my unwavering determination. My journey has led me to collaborate with Hollywood’s A-list actors such as Kurt Russell, Kaley Cuoco, Rosie Perez, Anna Sawai, and many others. My growing popularity can be attributed to my portrayal of the formidable antagonist character ‘Hak’ in the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated television series ‘The Flight Attendant’ (HBO). I have consistently expanded my reach through projects like ‘Little America (Apple TV+)’, ‘Monarch: The Legacy of Monsters (Apple TV+)’, ‘The Recruit (Netflix)’, ‘The Joe Schmo Show (TBS)’, and many others. My success continues to soar, and my future endeavors remain promising.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Despite the challenges and uncertainties, I am resolute in my pursuit of excellence and personal growth. While others may offer advice to persevere and that success will eventually come, ultimately, the decision lies solely with me to navigate this elusive and uncertain profession. My unwavering belief in myself and my commitment to 100% effort are the cornerstones of my success. After all, no one compelled me to become an actor. It was my personal choice, and it has been and will always be. Therefore, I am the sole owner of this endeavor.
