Community Highlights: Meet Megrikian Jake of BH Rides

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megrikian Jake

Hi Megrikian, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in Armenia and launched my hospitality career in 1999 at the Marriott Armenia Hotel. Travel and hospitality have always been my passion – I even dreamed of becoming a pilot to see the world. Over the next 15+ years, I held management roles in room operations, events, and sales at Marriott, Hilton, and IHG brands across the U.S., traveling to over 40 countries globally. It’s safe to say hospitality is in my DNA, and I have a true passion for exceptional service.

Most recently, I served as VP of Sales & Marketing for SZN Management USA, overseeing sales, marketing, and owner’s projects for the Sheraton Universal and The L.A. Grand Hotels.

Throughout my career, I’ve earned numerous accolades. In 2014, I received the SITE (Society for Incentive Travel Excellence) Kevin Forde Spirit Award and co-chaired their Young Leaders program. In 2017, Meetings Today Magazine named me a “Meetings Trendsetter” for my dedication to exceptional service.

When I turned 40, I felt a desire for something bigger. I knew I could do more, and it was a risk worth taking. So in 2023, I decided to leave my corporate career and embark on private enterprise, opening two complementary companies: BH Rides (luxury chauffeured services) and BH Travel.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s true that great achievements rarely come without effort. Even the most successful companies began humbly and faced numerous challenges. The key is to approach these issues as opportunities for growth and learning. With the right mindset, there is always a solution.

Sustaining our high standards of service and delivery as the company has grown has certainly been one of our main challenges. However, this is a positive problem to have, as it reflects the success and expansion of the business.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
In the realm of luxury service, it is essential to trust, but also verify that everything is executed flawlessly. There is no margin for error. To maintain the company’s continued growth, regular training and refresher sessions with team members are crucial.
