Today we’d like to introduce you to Petit Monstre

Hi Petit, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started off on my photographic journey by buying a camera because me and my best friend wanted to start a men’s fashion wear blog. All the big bloggers at the time that I was following on Instagram had really nice photos of themselves in the clothes that they were wearing so I told my friend we need to get a camera. I saved up and bought one. It was a Nikon D 3300. At that time I thought all you needed was a good camera and you get good photos so in the process of me learning how to Use the camera, I fell into the love of photography. From there, I started walking around everywhere with my camera, taking photos of things that I thought looked interesting different aesthetics a lot of street photography buildings architecture, light, and shadows just different scenes.. then I slowly started to work people into my photos, taking portraits of different people that I found on Instagram trying to come up with stories and themes to make the photo shoots interesting.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Its not always been a smooth road some of the struggles when you’re doing photography is finding your style perfecting your editing, and trying to get consistent clients.. for me. I had to figure out what I really want to do with photography..

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a photographer but really I call myself a visual artist because I use the camera as a tool to paint a picture and a message that I want the viewer to see. i’m glad that I’m able to bring my inspirations to life through these thematic photo shoots and express what was going on in my head at the time. I like to capture emotions and feelings and express them through the subject, and also the environment that the subject is in I like my photos to look cinematic and dramatic. I most proud of my photo book that I produced called. “Oh those feels”.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’m from Las Vegas so risk is always a topic in my city. I believe calculated risks are good and necessary if you want to grow, you have to step out on a ledge sometimes in order to be seen. I don’t think I’ve taken any major risks as far as what other people may deem to be major, but I think just believing in myself and doing the work regardless if I think anyone will see it or not or regardless, if I think it’ll be successful is a risk that everyone should be willing to take because you never know what may happen. I think pursuing your dream when they really don’t want you to as a risk..
