Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Rosenson.
Whitney, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Art Dimensions was started by my mother as an art rental and sales gallery, and when she passed away I acquired the business. That was in 1998. There were approximately 40 artists on the Art Dimensions roster and paintings, prints and sculpture were the only media handled. In the years since, I have created a website, which is the focus of the business, and now have more than ninety exceptional artists on the roster. Also, Art Dimensions now offers paintings, prints, sculpture, photography and drawings for lease and sale.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a great ride and there have been challenges, rather than struggles, along the way. After all, I have been running the business for 18 years. I am always learning things as the president of the company. One challenge was gathering over 500 images and the information about each piece of art for my website. Now, I work hard to keep abreast of what 95 artists are creating and attend the various shows they are participating in throughout the city. It is a challenge to maintain a current website, but that is a part of my job that I love and being that Art Dimensions is a web-based business, it is critical to have a fantastic site that is also user friendly. Taking care of all the administrative details of the business while also using the more creative side of my brain to help clients choose art that is perfect for their space is a challenge. But I embrace my role of sole proprietor and all the responsibility that comes with it.
Please tell us about Art Dimensions Online.
Art Dimensions is a web-based art rental and sales business. We specialize in the leasing of fine contemporary art with option to buy and deal with various media. These include paintings, prints, sculpture, photography and drawings. We are known for offering a lease-to-own program. As 60% of one’s rental fees applies towards the purchase of the art, leasing is an affordable way to acquire a collection. It also allows young collectors the opportunity to transition out pieces and create a rotating gallery in their home or office if they choose to. I believe what sets Art Dimensions apart from other art rental galleries is our collaboration with all types of clients including homeowners, businesses and the entertainment industry providing artwork for film and t.v. show sets.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood is visiting the Children’s Museum with my mom and my childhood best friend. We went to a special event there and had the front of our t-shirts painted by Charles Arnoldi.
