Meet Vard Movsisyan of VARD/MOV

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vard Movsisyan.

Hi Vard, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, I’m Vard! I’m a certified Style Coach as well as a business owner for my lifestyle and personal stylist brand, VARD/MOV.

As a girl growing up in the capital city of a teeny tiny country called Armenia, I never thought I would carry on with my studies in the field of fashion in London.

My first career was actually in education–after receiving my Master’s degree from the American University of Armenia, I became a teacher in a private school. Later, I ran Learn and Teach with Vard-my own education center in Yerevan-Armenia’s capital city. I loved how, as a teacher, I was able to work with people and to use my listening and communication skills to uplift and inspire them.

Although I loved my job–and loved giving back to Armenian locals–I knew deep down that this wouldn’t be enough for me.

When I realized that I can help folks through fashion–which has always been my other passion, the thing that has always grounded me and made me the happiest– I knew it was time to try out my interpersonal skills in the field of fashion.

I went on to gain my certification as a Style Coach from one of the most stylish cities on the face of the earth. While London was intimidating, it also inspired me–and lit a fire within me that pushed me to keep going and fulfill the next step in my career trajectory.

I’m so happy today because I actualized my goal of pivoting careers without sacrificing the aspects of education that I loved–like truly listening to people, being patient and helping them work through their goals to help them achieve their full potential and make the world a better place. The little girl from a small city who was always full of ambition is now a happy, confident Style Coach who travels internationally to change her clients’ lives through styling and lifestyle work.– for me, that’s already a win.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a full-time teacher in my early twenties, I had little time to think about style or how I wanted to express myself in general. Being constantly distracted by work for years ultimately made me feel less in touch with myself. When I discovered my love of fashion, I also discovered the catharsis of digging deep down into yourself to uncover your personality. It was self-therapy, to say the least. The process felt so right that I went on to pivot my career and become a personal stylist and a life coach. Today, I help individuals to connect with their roots, whatever they may be, and develop a sense of self that can be confidently reflected in their personal style–and I never cease to remember that I was my own first client.

From learning fashion history and decluttering my wardrobe to creating mood boards informed by understanding my body type, I embraced the process of understanding myself and my style and learning to express it through fashion and lifestyle. I can now say with full confidence it was one of the best decisions of my life.

As you know, we’re big fans of VARD/MOV. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
VARD/MOV is a lifestyle brand that combines personal styling with life coaching. As a Style Coach, I help people to select and style clothes and accessories that work for their body, coloration and personality AND help individuals gain the confidence and skill set to dream big and achieve their goals.

Essentially, I’m here to help you feel good on the inside and gain the know-how to reflect that with your unique personal style on the outside. That can take many forms depending on your needs–that’s why every client relationship begins with a kick-off meeting where we discuss exactly what you’re looking for and what I can offer you. From personal grooming instructions to a color analysis, to confidence coaching, I’ll be here every step of the way to get you feeling your absolute best.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My mom, who has always had a great, sophisticated eye for and taste in fashion and style. She brought me up to be a spiritual person who prioritizes inner peace and humanity above everything else. I give her all the credit when it comes to seeing the beauty in a person’s natural state and accepting your body.

The second person who deserves credit is my husband-he is my endless source of motivation. I especially appreciate his support when things get tough as an entrepreneur.

So many others deserve credit, from the ones who inspire me to those who believe in me enough to take advantage of my services. I would also like to give a special shout-out to my VARD/MOV team. Together, we are goal-oriented, purpose-driven creatives who are not afraid to visualize the impact we can have through our work–and work hard to make it a reality!
