Meet Vanessa Faggiolly and Nora Saca of Amerisal Foods in Van Nuys

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Faggiolly and Nora Saca.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Vanessa and Nora. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In 2008, I decided to join my Mother in the most exciting adventure of our lives. With very little money in our pockets we offer to make payments and bought a bankrupt company.

The company had huge potential, when my Mom told me about the concept of the business I visualized the mission and vision statement. We were going to solve a pain in the market, the demand for nostalgic food products was huge and we were going to fill that gap with a new mentality, hard work, passion and drive.

We both work as a team to develop the company’s innovation process, including identifying strategies, new technologies, and business opportunities, as well as developing new capabilities with partners, new business models, and new industry structures to serve those opportunities. We have become experts on all aspects of retail operations (R & D, merchandising, sales, customer service, inventory, personnel and payroll management).

We have closed deals with most major supermarket chains like Vallarta, El Super, Cardenas, Superior Grocers, Super King, Northgate, Numero Uno Markets, Baja Ranch, R Ranch Markets (just to mention some).

After Amerisal was about to close its doors in 2008, it is now a multimillion-dollar company operating in Texas, California, Nevada, Arizona, Washington, Alaska, and soon Miami.

We consider ourselves a great and dynamic duo creating hundreds of jobs locally and abroad. In June 2016, we received the award as ” Entrepreneur Leaders of the Year” with the NATIONAL LATINA BUSINESS WOMEN ASSOCIATION, On August, I received (Vanessa) the award for “Business Woman of the Year” with the Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, on July we received from Congressman Tony Cardenas a Congressional Recognition for our outstanding economic contribution to the San Fernando Valley

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
WOW!!! It has not been a smooth road for sure. Many struggles along the way:

– Learn how to grow my company and how to handle growth.
– Produce more jobs, and help our community.
– Reach the American dream and teach others how to succeed.
– Learn how to be a more productive person to the community and God.
– Increased competition
– Getting money for working capital
– Increase in labor costs
– Bad employees
– Not enough cash flow to pay for expenses
– Mispricing products
– Having enough inventory in stock

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Amerisal Foods – what should we know?

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
As an amiable leader, I consider myself to be responsive to others, great team player, loyal, and dependable. I build relationships easier while focusing on others points of view and opinions. I am patient, and easy going.

I enjoy working with others especially in smaller groups. I like to encourage others on expanding on their ideas and see the values in others people contributions.
