Meet Trailblazer Jennifer Gerace

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Gerace.

Jennifer, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Early in my career, I enhanced facial features as a make-up artist, having brushed the cheeks of hundreds of brides and media personalities while working at CNN in Washington DC.

I became intrigued with skin-care ingredients when many of my make-up clients would depend on me for their skincare needs. During the advent of high definition TV in the late ’90s is when I pivoted into skin health and wellness.

Everyone’s skin tells a story. Past sun exposure, food and drug addictions, a very stressed lifestyle all play into determining your skin story and how to approach and overcome clients’ concerns. Our hormones, lifestyle, diet and exercise all play a roll in the condition of our skin, it’s my job as a ” Skin Therapist to seek out the best approach for each client.

I have spent over two decades supporting both device and cosmetic manufacturers by providing educational support by bridging the gap between physician-dispensed cosmeceuticals and thermal inducing technologies with my protocols.

My ancillary protocols have created a niche for Plastic Surgeons and Dermatologists and I have privately consulted with dozens of medical practices including one of my most recent projects, revamping the technology at the oldest Med Spa in Beverly Hills. Thibiant.

My passion is helping clients with troubled skin ranging from Acne & Melasma to aging skin with autoimmune diseases.

Many of my clients will seek me out after their dermatologist has had them on harsh antibiotics and immune-suppressing drugs that have not worked.

I am a consultant to many equipment manufacturers, testing new and innovative technologies.

I currently see clients in a Beverly Hills Aesthetic Surgical Practice as well as offer Concierge care in the Los Angeles area as well as remote consulting.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s still a challenge. 🙂
Having to prove to doctors that my ancillary protocol is going to better enhance their work has been a big obstacle – Doctors tend to loop all Aestheticians into a roll of being a one-trick pony. I have never fit that description in any way and encourage other Estys to push forward until they are heard and respected as a contribution skin practitioner.

Please tell us about Beverly Hills Skin Care Muse – licensed Clinical Aesthetician – what should we know?
I am, your personal skin-care muse and resource for exceptional skin! Drawing upon my decades of experience in the aesthetic industry, I employ a unique multi-modality approach to my facial treatments to provide lasting results for my growing client roster. With a focus on promoting skin health through my Orthomolecular Facial Treatment regimens and home-care recommendations. Whether your skin has suffered the effects of being a former sun worshiper, cancer survivor, sugar, drug or alcohol addict, my Orthomolecular Facial Treatments are customized to disrupt the downward spiral of glycation by recalibrating the skin to it’s healthiest functioning state.

I am well known for developing protocols that prepare the client’s skin for invasive procedures such as lasers, injectables and surgery, which in turn has resulted in close relationships with some of the most well-respected dermatologists, plastic surgeons and nurse injectors in the industry. Often, these pre-procedure measures are overlooked, which can lead to impaired healing, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), damaged and even scarred skin, so efforts to provide the treatment areas with the proper nutrients prior to these more advanced procedures will promote faster healing and minimal downtime.

I trained at the Dermal Institute in Reston, Virginia and have been a licensed aesthetician since 1992. I later went on to receive advanced training at the world-renowned Vonn Lee International Institute.

I actually began my career as a medical make-up artist for CNN’s Washington DC bureau and with the advent of high-definition television during the mid-1990s, my clients increasingly began to request help with improving their skin’s appearance on camera. This led to my eventual transition into clinically based aesthetics.

As a Clinical Esthetician and former manufacturers’ consultant, I have collaborated with highly-distinguished physician luminaries including cosmetic dermatologists, Dr. Jason Emer & Dr. David Amron along with Plastic Surgeon, Dr. John Diaz & Dr. Gary Motykie. I recently spent a year closely working alongside Dermatologist, Dr. Paul Yamauchi & Dr. Tsippora Shainhouse building the Sustain Skin Care line and creating Aesthetic protocols for patients suffering medical conditions like psoriasis, acne Rosacea and eczema. I have developed groundbreaking ancillary protocols that enhance invasive thermal inducing procedures such as lasers, RF & ultrasound. I have personally trained & certified more than 1,000 estheticians on the HydraFacial™ Hydra-Dermabrasion technology. I am in the process of launching a groundbreaking device that infuses Hydrogen into the skin is expected to launch in Summer of 2020.

Which women have inspired you in your life?
I have so many women that I admire but Michelle Obama, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Chelsea Handler are sticking out at the moment. Having just finished reading Michelle and Chelsea’s book, I am even more inspired by them. RBG has been a champion for women’s rights, which makes me want to use my voice to be an activist for our future generations.
