Meet Samaad D Jordan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samaad D Jordan.

Samaad, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started an anti-bullying campaign around two years or so ago. The reason for the campaign was to bring light to what a great deal of teens were facing in school. How high school can be very tough for many. As it was for me, it felt as if I wasn’t being heard by the very people who were to protect me. School officials. No matter how many times I reported it, nothing seemed to happen. If I fought back. I would be in the wrong and be punished as well.

Honestly, I couldn’t take it anymore. I felt that every kid deserves to go to school and feel safe and enjoy their school experience.

This is what birth the “I MATTER” CAMPAIGN. I was able to get a few friends to join me and get some t-shirts made. And we can’t together to make this amazing video in awareness.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was not a smooth road to get the bullying to stop. In fact, I had to stand up to the bully. Which resulted in a physical fight. That was posted all over the internet. It was not only embarrassing. I believe, putting your hands on someone else. Should be the last resort. We should of been able to talk things out. But this kid was determined to fight. However, after this fight I will say it all stopped. There was no more interaction between the two of us. And life went on. But I then began to really struggle with my Academics. And wasn’t able to remain focus for a very long time. I eventually got it together. I’ve graduated class of 2020 with great grades. But it wasn’t an easy road to travel.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I offer schools to be able to show this video to their students in hopes they can get a handle on other children and teens being bullied. This has to stop. We’ve got to do better in school all over the world.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future as of now is to continue to follow my dreams. I want to be a model and undersea welder. But I also want to make an impact in my community and give the youth a safe place to speak about their high school experiences.
