Meet Romel Gharagedaghi of Cafe Cola in San Gabriel Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Romel Gharagedaghi.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We started in Azusa late 2011. Closed late 2012. Opened back up early 2013 in Covina. Closed mid-2015. Opened again in early 2016 in Covina at the same exact place as we were before. Closed mid-2018. Opened early 2019 in Glendora with the help of another restaurant owner, and are fighting the good fight to stick around.

Lots of cool stuff has happened over the years, including meeting my soulmate as they say, who worked next door to our shop. We have a daughter together now and plan on having more children. Many friendships have formed and books read to events held and etc.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall it had been a great journey. Learning and learning through progression. Capital we never really had, so it was always an uphill battle. Also, the whole business side of it all with finances and operations has been the most challenging part, along with staff and management. The customer part we have gotten down cold because we really really love people!!

Please tell us about Cafe Cola.
We are a simple shop that loves is patrons, for reals. That is our specialty eye believe. Really cafe for the people. Our menu consists of a handful of items that include a Burger, Cheesesteak, Chicken Sandwich, Zombie Friez, and Soft Cookie.

The Zombie Friez are fun & an evolution of the simple nachos eye want to say. All the meals are created your own without nickel and dining. We have several cheeses and toppings and sauces, which you can make your meal anyway you want. You are the boss.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Loved living in West Germany in the late 80’s while eye was about seven to ten years of age. Just the freedom of being young and playing with the neighborhood kids till nighttime was pure joy.
