Meet Dr. Jonathan Leary of Remedy Place in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Jonathan Leary.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I began my journey as a Concierge Wellness Doctor serving a long list of Celebrity, professional and Olympic Athletes. The vision for Remedy Place started when I wanted to take my mission of changing the standard of healthcare along with the education and care that I was giving to my patients and bring it to a larger group of individuals. My goal was to create a space where people can achieve balance in their everyday lives without disrupting their usual schedule. Remedy Place is a health-focused sanctuary where members can experience healing and wellness in a social atmosphere.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest obstacle I had was money. (However, it ended up being the biggest blessing.) I grew up in a small town in Rhode Island, average blue collar family and after eight years in school, I built up a lot of student loan debt. Even though I was working full time on top of it. Throughout completing my doctorate, I spent time every week building my business plan for Remedy Place (as my first practice idea). However, little did I know that no matter how good of a business plan you have if you graduate and have all this debt no bank in the world will give you a loan. This makes it extremely hard for individuals like myself that have to start from the ground up. Nevertheless, I won’t dive into the student loan crisis and the problems with it. That’s a whole other conversation.

Instead, I started my concierge practice that required no start-up costs or overhead and it allowed me to continue curate the Remedy Place dream. Throughout this time, it not only let me perfect the model, makes it the best that it could be on every little detail but it allowed me to help and impress the right people that then stood behind me to bring the dream to reality.

Remedy Place – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Remedy Place is the first of its kind Social Wellness Club. We are a club where people can come to put their wellness first, in a destination that is different from a spa. Our space focuses on the importance of social interaction combined with the importance of self-care. Members can come in after experiencing everyday stressors such as a long work week, travel or a hard day in the gym. We provide a luxurious experience to our guests by fully immersing them in an atmosphere that helps heal the body from within. Upon entering Remedy Place guests are surrounded by a neutral, dark color palette that provides serenity compared to the stark white and sterile nature of clinical environments.

What role has luck (good luck or bad luck) played in your life and business?
This is a tricky one. My whole life I would say “how lucky and I” for so many things and when I started to speak with other people/mentors/patients they would always stop me and say this isn’t luck, you have worked your ass off for this and you attract what you put out there. I can honestly say that I have worked extremely hard, sacrificed a lot and did everything that I possibly could to ensure success and with that, I didn’t get to do what most people did in their twenties. However, it was a sacrifice I was willing to do because I love what I do and I have always seen the bigger vision/dream of what I wanted to accomplish. I realized over time that as you put good out there, actively set intentions and surround yourself with people that make you better and inspire you then anything is possible. The journey that I have been on brought me to a city that allows bigger dreams to come to and it put incredible people into my life. Collectively, these experiences and interactions have built who I am today.
