Pershetta, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
P.S Independent Business Consultants truly came about by happenstance! As a professional exiting the corporate market to pursue.

Has it been a smooth road?
“Smooth! I think not” In the world of business consulting and grant writing, it can be challenging enough to help potential clients identify their critical need for your service-based business or expertise before it’s too late, all the more difficult to convey the value and (ROI) return on investment to start-ups that currently lack the financial capacity or bandwidth to contract professional consultation services for their business.

I’m a woman, while this alone isn’t a barrier, it can be an intimidating and daunting task to be an educated, successful Black woman operating in an arena that is often dominated by males. If I may be transparent; the challenge is the unstated requirement to prove my efficiency or value within my professional community resonates each time I prepare to meet a new client who may or may not observe my value, skill, or ability beyond their implicit bias to hire or contract someone who looks different than me.

I’m almost embarrassed to describe how many times I have failed or had to reinvent myself as an entrepreneur; how many times I’ve returned to the drawing board to figure out how and where I’ve gone wrong and find the formula to ‘do business better’. I struggled to find the balance to build a business-brand, be an amazing wife to my husband, or doting mother to my children. I am not going to pretend I haven’t burned a few dinners while developing a proposal or creating engaging content for my followers.

Some (entrepreneurs) can sometimes live inside this little ‘unrealistic’ bubble and maintain a whimsical belief that business will be a frolic through fields of flowers, a well-deserved vacation from the traditional workforce when in fact this couldn’t be further from the truth. My first and biggest challenge was taking responsibility for my entrepreneurial journey; understanding that every decision is and would be reflected in the success or failure of my business. Before submitting to the fact or reality that I lacked strategy, my burning questions were “Why weren’t my highest aligning clients magically gravitating to me or paying my invoices” and “How am I in business for myself and still feel so worky”.

There will inevitably be financial ebbs and flows of business; months, and quarters that are insanely productive, also dry spells that leave you considering whether you should be in business at all! I have celebrated success beyond my wildest dreams and also painstakingly sat with disappointments but ultimately arrived at the decision to keep going for myself, for my family, and for the market, generations, and audience of rising entrepreneurs that need to see the authenticity of it all.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the P.S Independent Business Consultants, LLC. story. Tell us more about the business.
P.S Independent Business Consultants LLC. (PSIBC) is a full-service business consulting firm which offers professional business consult and a diverse suite of services to entrepreneurs, small business owners, for-profit and non-profit organizational leaders. PSIBC offers Entity Infrastructure formation and development, Leadership, and team training, program-project implementation strategy, professional writing services; Additionally, PSIBC specializes in garnering operational capital for startups through private, state, and federal grant funding sources.

While we are a large firm, our core objective is to forge a quality-based personal relationship with clients. Our philosophy is founded in understanding our clients’ unique business needs, which helps us to deliver and achieve results that are productive and profitable.

Not only do we provide consultation but valuable education to our clients that aid them to achieve implemented strategy and long-term sustainably.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
There’s so much in store for us; naturally, over the coming years, we’ll continue to gauge business trends along with the changing needs of our client base to offer resourceful products, business tools, consultation, and services to meet them.

We anticipate that as a result of the COVID-19 national pandemic, more entrepreneurs than ever will emerge from the uncertainty of the traditional workforce; additionally, we will be pivoting to expand our service base to serve the online community which affords us to take PSIBC from local to international platforms (even after the world opens for business)!

Our team of consultants will definitely grow as we’ll eventually offer legal and accounting services making PSIBC a one-stop exchange network for professionals.
