Meet Martin Martinez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Martin Martinez.

Martin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Ever since I was younger, Hollywood was where I wanted to be, this to me has always been the land of opportunity, the land where dreams come true. Little did I realize that this idea, this aspiration, was somewhere I would eventually find myself. Movies have always intrigued me, the delivery, the concepts, the acting it was so ethereal. I was approached by a manager via Instagram whom I have been so grateful for, the introduction to the industry was so useful and the opportunity was very helpful.

He sent me my first few auditions which I filmed in my hometown in Sacramento. We got some great feedback and after a hearty discussion, we figured I could really do this ‘acting thing’ in Los Angeles. So I thought- your right, maybe I do have a shot at this. That’s where I think my journey to Los Angeles began.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t necessarily been the smoothest road, I feel if it were easy everyone would be doing it and doing it well. Substantially enough to be sustaining themselves in a lifestyle that in my opinion can be difficult to get accustomed too. There’s been quite a few challenges and obstacles, and I believe there always be new ones. New hurdles to jump over depending on the situations, but I feel we just have to do our best in those situations and make the right decisions for us.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I identify myself as an actor, but more than that a person who gets to represent other people and characters. I am so grateful for that and feel so fortunate to do so, every time I get a script I get so excited to jump in that characters’ shoes. But, that being said I also like to convey stories on the other side of the camera such as directing and producing.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think I could be a little biased when it comes to this question because what I feel it takes to be successful in this business isn’t necessarily how I am. But pertaining to me, I’d have to say a steady diligent work ethic to keep moving forward even in the slow seasons is important. Perseverance isn’t easy, but I think it’s essential. And hopefully, you have colleagues and mentors that you can consult with as well, it’s always great to get feedback and find room for improvement.
