Meet Marguerite Nesteruk of Resonating Earth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marguerite Nesteruk.

Marguerite, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I spent my childhood and formative years exploring the woodlands, meadows, and gardens of Long Island, NY, & developed an early, heartfelt passion for the natural world. As an adult, I nurtured and transferred this passion into my professional life. Upon graduating from Parson’s School of Design in NYC in 2006, I set off for a year on a work-holiday visa in New Zealand. It was in New Zealand – amidst the organic farms, local vineyards, and verdant plains and mountains — that I realized I wanted to dedicate my life and work to Mother Earth and the natural world.

In the years since, I have worked as an Urban Farmer, Garden Director, Outdoor Environmental Educator, & School Garden Teacher. Many of these endeavors have involved teaching youth and adults about the healing benefits and techniques of growing herbs and edible plants. In 2016 I was also selected as one of five inspirational women to represent the earth-friendly brand ‘Alba Botanica’ in their “Women Doing Good: Do Good, Do Beautiful” campaign. With training in aspects of creating school gardens and permaculture design — and as a certified Master Gardener and Reiki Master — I have turned my talents recently to more deeply exploring the spiritual aspects of plant medicine, as well as the role of negative and positive energies on properties and land. Having completed courses in both herbal medicine and geomancy in 2019, I infuse my work with a more attuned understanding of the energetic properties of plants and the Earth and their benefits to human well-being.

I had known since I was a little girl that I wanted to one day own my own business. However, the timing of it happened faster than I had planned due to the Woolsey Fire & the Universe having bigger plans for me. With fire comes transformation and that is when I started to create ‘Resonating Earth.’ And now here I am guiding people in various ways connecting them to the beauty around us and within us.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have always followed my passion/s throughout my career. I have been blessed to have had almost every job I have dreamed of due to following my heart & instincts. So in that sense, it has been smooth. However, a lot of the jobs I once had weren’t very lucrative. What kept me pushing forward was the joy of the job…not the paycheck.

I would say my biggest struggle is now running every aspect of my business by myself. ‘Resonating Earth’ right now is a one woman business. I do absolutely everything. When I am lucky, my Sister is in town to assist me with things.

As you know, we’re big fans of Resonating Earth. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I interweave plants, healing & education. I also handcraft and sell organic herbal tea blends.

I offer an array of options for a private or public experience which includes tea ceremonies, as well as reiki and dowsing. I’ve lead tea ceremonies for corporate parties, bachelorette experiences, wellness events at hotels, and so on. They really seem to be a crowd favorite as well as for smaller intimate groups of friends looking to gather and do something different. A lot of people will have me work with their future residential or investment properties to dowse the land. I definitely consider my tea blending specialized as well, as they are exclusively unique per each batch.

For most of my career, I was an Environmental Educator, Urban Farmer & School Garden Teacher. So in short, my previous version of self is known for having a green thumb and being a great teacher. It has been challenging at times because a lot of people immediately associate me as a farmer/gardener only. But just like plants, people grow too. I have grown to stay open to the possibilities of what I can offer and the options are limitless. I still garden but I am now becoming more known for my Tea Ceremony experiences, workshops, & tea blends. My Reiki & Dowsing offerings are quickly catching on. I will always be an Educator in some form. I went from teaching youth for years to now teaching adults about herbs & how to make medicine.

I believe my personality sets me apart & my personal approach to my work. I really like to have fun and connect with different people while not taking myself too seriously as I feel it’s important to always maintain that balance. I truly enjoy showing people the many different forms mindfulness can be exercised whether that be in a tea ceremony, a reiki session, or simply in a garden.

Can I be proud of my whole brand? Haha I am pretty proud of my website, logo, name & tea blends. I worked hard at all of them. I taught myself how to create a website, would patiently doodle in my notebook for months on my logo, and drink endless amounts of tea till I felt the blend tasted just right….a modern-day Goldilocks 😉

I am available for public/private tea ceremonies, experiences & workshops, Reiki, & Dowsing for Home/Business/Land, etc. I hope to also add Breathwork facilitator to this list & make tea ceremonial size mugs for purchase in the next year.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I have always been pretty adventurous. For example, I have gone sky diving a few times, paragliding over the Swiss Alps, & received my diving certification in Australia. I would say I do take risks but I don’t make the decision impulsively or even with the mindset of “taking risks.” I just know that I don’t prefer to stay idle in a comfort zone and I believe you need to take some risks to see what is possible. Fear can often hold us back from doing things we want to do. So when you take the leap, that decision is and of itself, a risk.
