Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcos (Diseize84) Cruz.
Marcos, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started out about 15 years ago with The MPC 1000. It was a gift for my brother from my sister but I ended up learning the machine. At the time, I just wanted to create music. I was working on my craft until I met some friends thru my brother that wanted to work so we created a Hip Hop Group called Illicit Dialect. Every time we would meet I always had something new to work on so would stay up late night to pursue the vision we had. We worked on a number of tracks before we got picked up by Realizm Rekords that released our Debut Album called “Violence, Poverty, Diseize84”. I continued to pursue the beat making and decided to take it more serious. Now I work not only with artists in Los Angeles but in Greece, Mexico, and France. I meet artists thru shows and at times thru social media such as Instagram, YouTube, SoundCloud, Facebook. I have a couple of projects that will be coming out soon “Espanol Sin Barreras – Breezewood La Connecta, Letras A. prod by Diseize84”, “Untitled – Brown Lucci prod by Diseize84” and many more that I have in the vault. I have released a couple of albums as well that I’ve produced “Illicit Dialect-Violence, Poverty, Diseize84”, “Akademex – 5 Suns Set in Stone”, “Letras A, – Escombros”, “Monta (Greece)”. I’m still up late nights working on the craft, sometimes I sleep others I don’t. I have to say its been a roller coaster of a ride but all worth it. EAT, SLEEP, MPC.
Has it been a smooth road?
Its been a smooth road but just like anything in life, you have Ups and Downs. There is always a solution to the problem.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m mostly known for my work in Instrumentals. Coming from a family of musicians, I stay up late till the work is completed to my satisfaction. I’m proud of the work I have released so far. I do everything myself so it takes time but I’m always up for a challenge. I don’t think anything sets me apart from anyone since everyone is good at what they do.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think with the music you can start anywhere. As long as you dedicate your time and pretty much isolate yourself to become the best, you will triumph anywhere. Practice and Patience are key to starting out.
