Meet Manuel Robles, Altair Padilla, and Mindee Jorgensen of Dangerously Sleazy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Manuel Robles, Altair Padilla, and Mindee Jorgensen.

Manuel, Altair, and Mindee, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Dangerously Sleazy is a Los Angeles based punk rock band. Our music stays true to the old school punk rock attitude but has a unique sound that mixes fast punk with elements of classic rock, blues, grunge, and surf.

Our sound includes Manuel Robles thundering gritty vocals, and his one of a kind guitar playing style; driving punk riffs mixed with skillfully crafted solos, heavily influenced by classic rock and blues.

Mindee Jorgensen adds passion with her drumming, a hard-hitting style that involves jazz influences, solid driving punk beats, and rudiment heavy fills.

Altair has a smooth and groovy bass style that adds a unique twist not usually seen in punk bands. The band has a deep sound is very bass heavy and driving.

We started in 2010, and have been playing throughout Los Angeles and the surrounding areas since. We put out our first EP in 2012, recorded at Laundry Room Studios with Uly Nöriega. We are currently working on our next release.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Dangerously Sleazy’s path has been filled with ups and downs. We have had three bassists throughout our time together. We have also taken a few breaks during our nine years together. At one point, lack of transportation kept us from booking shows for a good chunk of time.

Financial issues and schedule conflicts have made our progress on our upcoming release slower than we would like, but we always keep at it. Music is a passion for all three of us, and we continue to trek on, no matter what obstacles come our way.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
One thing that sets us apart from other bands is that all three of us are very skilled at our instrument and have all been playing for years. We also each come from varied musical backgrounds and all bring a different style to the group.

Dangerously Sleazy can fit on a variety of bills due to this, and can play with different genres of bands. We can fit with hardcore, old school punk, post-punk, metal, grunge, etc. Each of us has been performing with different groups for years, and continue to play with other bands.

Manuel Robles is best known as the bassist of The Richard Ramirez Beatdown, a long-running Highland Park band once known as The Gimps. He also played bass for the jazz-influenced garage band Azteca Frame.

Altair comes from a well-known rock band called Crescendo and currently rocks bass in Action Friend. Mindee Jorgensen also plays with ModPods and The Dale Crover Band and gives drum lessons as well. She also takes for hire drumming gigs.

What were you like growing up?
Music was a big part of all of our lives growing up. It helped us get through rough times and grow as people.
