Meet Lisa Nwoyé

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Nwoyé.

Lisa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m Nigerian, Igbo to be specific and education has always been important to me since I was a little girl. After graduating from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing I decided to move to Los Angeles. Once I arrived to Los Angeles I thought my degree would get me my dream Marketing Job in the Hollywood Entertainment industry. I was hit with many surprises to see that the time I spent in Silicon Valley interning in the tech industry didn’t mean anything to Hollywood. I eventually took on a job as an assistant working with recording artists that were signed to major record labels and professional athletes. During my time working as an assistant, I went back to school and completed a Master’s degree. While working on my Masters I interned at B.E.T in the Legal and Business Affairs department and also Interned at Warner Music Group in the Digital Marketing department.

Once I completed my Masters and gained Entertainment experience from internships and assistant work I began to spend more time focusing on Nwoyé Brand LLC — a Lifestyle company for the Creative, Innovative, Hustlers.

In conjunction with running Nwoyé Brand, I’ve spent time working in corporate America in the Advertising industry with major brands and corporations. I’ve been able to take what I’ve learned from working at major companies and apply it to building my own business and also consult clients with small businesses or people who are looking to start their own business or build their brand. I’m also very passionate about serving the community and helping underrepresented communities– I have a non-profit Project Digital Africa org.

I am a creative at heart and I’m learning how to sew and have recently added Djing to my list of skills. In addition to Djing, I’m currently enrolled at Loyola Marymount University in the Paralegal Certificate program. I believe that as humans it’s important that we continue to grow throughout life and evolve and keep learning new skills.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not at all, but I’ve learned a lot along the way. I spent too much of my time investing it in other peoples dreams and goals, when out of the 100% of my time that I do have each day the majority of it should go to God, myself, family, my businesses, my dreams, my goals, and adding new skills to myself. Which is what I’m 100% focused on now.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Nwoyé Brand LLC is a consulting firm which provides many different services including but not limited to Business Development, Brand Partnerships, Management and Entertainment services. The Nwoye Brand online shop is something that I am very proud of. The shop focuses on paying homage to the entire continent of Africa and the African diaspora. With Africa shape necklaces, Ankara print earrings, and many other items available for purchase.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over I wouldn’t do anything differently. The hurdles and struggles that I’ve faced during my journey thus far are what make me who I am today.
