Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Henry.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Leslie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up in a small town in Mississippi, there are not many career paths to choose from, regardless of your educational background or work experience. And as much as I love the city that I am from. I knew I wanted more than what it had to offer. A few years after graduating from Jackson State University, I packed my car and drove to Los Angeles. To be honest, I had no idea how I would succeed, but I had confidence in myself that something great would come from this decision. From sleeping on the floor at a friend’s home to working a 9-5 for three years, I soon realized my life was headed to a very cliche lifestyle. I was dissatisfied with where my decisions were leading me and I knew I had to make a change. I soon resigned from this position and began working with a very prestigious modeling company in downtown Los Angeles.

Within months, I had been granted the opportunity to work beside many well-known actresses and models. They quickly took me under their wing and provided me with a lot of career advice and guidance to ensure the achievements of my many goals. While receiving so much inspiration from my peers, I decided to start my own business, Within this past year, I launched LeslieMoniq, which is a luxurious lip cosmetic line designed specifically to promote self-love and a positive self-image to many women around the world.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road is never smooth and to be honest, I prefer it that way. There is so much beauty in the struggle. And that struggle gives you the opportunity to show who you really are. Am I resilient? Or am I a quitter? And I have never been someone to give up on anything that I believe in. With this being my first time owning a business, there were many mistakes and a lot of stress that I had to withstand. But from those mistakes, came many learning opportunities. During the process, I had many struggles. One in particular was learning to separate business from personal relationships. I lost a lot of individuals in the process because I had to realize that everyone is not meant to join you on your journey, especially since it requires you to elevate higher, and it became a struggle to keep these people involved in my life and at the same time grow to be the person that this business required me to be. Though some were individuals that I held true to my heart, I knew that I did not need the distractions in which could hinder me from reaching my goals. So I had to distance myself from several loved ones to make room for people in my life who supported my growth.

LeslieMoniq is a luxurious lip cosmetic line created with the purpose to promote women empowerment, a positive self-image and confidence. We specialize in liquid matte lipsticks, lipgloss and lip liners, all developed from premium ingredients. My most popular product is our all-purpose “Left Him On Red” lipstick which is a vibrant red lipstick which looks magnificent on all shades of skin pigmentation. Our products are specifically named in a way to promote self-confidence. “Left Him On Red” is a reminder to every woman who wears this color to not be afraid to escape the stresses from your partner and/or relationship and focus on yourself. And that is what I am mostly proud of about my company. I want women to feel empowered when they wear my products. That is also what separates my company from other lipstick lines. I provide great quality products while also promoting self-confidence.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Los Angeles! I love the endless opportunities and how creative the people are here. I admire the fact that this city builds a hustler mentality inside of you because it is so easy to get caught up in the limelight of this place. Being here teaches you that nothing comes easy and that you must make sacrifices and work hard for what you want. This city can either make or break you and I must say Los Angeles has caused me to put on my big girl underwear.
