Meet Karina Dobra of Karinadobraphoto in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karina Dobra.

Karina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As long as I remember myself I have always been fascinated by the visuals and beauty of the world. I picked up my parents’ kodak film camera when I was ten years old intending to tell a story about a little town I was going to on excursion. After I took photos of my dolls, arranging so they look real. When I grew older I chose a different path, I went to the University, got a degree and worked in an office; nevertheless, I was taking photos as a hobby.

A few years ago I moved to Los Angeles and decided to embark on a photography course and while studying, realized that it is something I want to do a job. I am interested in conceptual and fashion photography. Through my images, I want to raise awareness about environmental issues, pollution, overconsumption, technology overuse, hunger, poverty, find common grounds between people of all religions and cultures – to get them closer together. I have been to 80 countries and would love to share my experience with people.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road as an artist you have to overcome mental barriers by reaching out to people, networking, finding ways, coming up with new ideas. Sometimes you feel rejected, used, or lack of inspiration, sometimes you feel like you are going nowhere. You have to be prepared for that as in the beginning it can crush you.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Karinadobraphoto story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a photographer and an interpreter.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I will accomplish my goals and become very successful and well-known.
