Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Blamo.
Hi Jorge, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m the first generation of my family in this country. My parents are of Ghanaian and Portuguese descent. Ever since I was a little boy; I knew that I wanted to entertain and perform in front of an audience. I have always been quite athletic, so when I went to college and played baseball for Penn State. All the while pursuing my passion for the arts, I fell in love with theater. My very first play was The Wizard of Oz in the role of The Cowardly Lion. After college, I started my professional career in New York acting in commercials, television and films. It was not long after I was cast for a Co-Star role on the television show ‘Wu-Tang: An American Saga’. My career was picking up momentum, so last year I decided to relocate to Los Angeles, CA., and continue to live out my dreams and passions to the fullest.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Far from it. Last year, I lost my mother which affected me tremendously, and with COVID pausing the entertainment industry, I had to find new ways to keep my mind active and focused. Having an athlete mindset kept me moving.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I consider myself a hyphen! I’ve always enjoyed having multiple tasks on the fire. I’m an actor, writer, and producer. In fitness, I’m the Founder/ Health & Wellness Consultant of Inner Fire Fitness and an Under Armour Ambassador. When I’m not on set, I’m helping my clients optimize their health. I’m also a part of a podcast called Eat Pray Ball where we focus on bridging cultures together through the sport of soccer. I have received most of my acting recognition from my portrayal on Wu-Tang: An American Saga. I signed with a talent management company, ATM Anchor Talent Management, and I just wrapped my first feature film Rocky’s Galaxy in a Supporting role. It’s exciting to be living what I always visioned as a dream.
What does success mean to you?
My friend Erik Bartell gave me this quote before a workout he hosted and has resonated with me since. “The more corners you cut the more you create. There are no shortcuts to the top. Work hard, do the right thing when it is the harder avenue, it will mean more in the end. Victory is in the details – a man who understands the importance of doing the little things right will never fail.” I’ve learned to fall in love with the process and enjoy the journey. That’s a success.
