While serving his clients, he also serves in several other capacities for the community at large and the mortgage banking industry, As President-elect of the North Los Angeles Chapter of the California Association of Mortgage Professionals (NOLA CAMP), working closely with members throughout the national organization to ensure compliance and communication regarding the ever-changing rules and regulations affecting the mortgage industry. Prior to joining Crestico, Houtan fine-tuned his business skills and experience in the finance industry. Houtan’s vast experience and participation in the national capital market afforded him the ability to penetrate the real estate and mortgage industry through his various roles at different firms. As Sales Manager at Citywide Group, he used his brokering and banking skills to ensure the highest level of care and attention to all his clients, big and small. Whether it is a young couple buying their starter home, or a multi-national conglomerate of investors seeking to invest in large packages, Houtan draws on his experience as a former loan processor, title loan and mortgage closer as well as his experience in pricing, closing and originating loans to showcase his flexibility and adaptability to any business scenario.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been anything but smooth. The real estate and finance industry has seen many changes in the last decade. The mortgage crisis changed the entire industry, some would say for the better and others would say for the worse. The loosey-goosey era of finance is over and today we are faced with constantly evolving regulatory mandates and challenges, not to mention fierce competition thanks to the advent of technology. With improved technology, we, as professionals are not only better able to perform to client satisfaction because of increased availability of information and communication be we are also challenged to be better and do better. Historically, consumers had no choice but to go to an industry insider to get information about a specific product or procedure, but with the internet and the easy access to information – we, as professionals have to step up our game and be better educated so that we can provide better answers. The industry has taken a Darwinian turn, where in fact it has become truly a “survival of the fittest” atmosphere. On the regulatory front, we have to stay informed of the even-changing regulatory issues which have roots in political and economic issues across the nation on a daily basis.

We established Crestico, Inc. in 2008 to change the face of real estate and mortgage lending today and for the future. Recent developments have led to a loss of faith and a generally malevolent image of Real Estate and Mortgage professionals by society. Our founder and I created Crestico to change this negative image! We want clients to know that when they partner up with a Crestico professional, they are receiving our personal guarantee of satisfaction. What does that mean? That means that the team member will take every measure possible to ensure that clients are 100% satisfied and pleased with the service they get. We pride ourselves on integrity and professionalism. We make sure each and every one of our associates is properly trained not only in Real Estate and Mortgage matters, but also in professional matters. Choosing a home, selling a home and finding financing for these homes is no small matter!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Perseverance is truly the most essential aspect of my career. At a time when it seemed everything and everyone was failing, we pulled ourselves together and stuck it out. We started and grew a Mortgage company in the worst financial crisis of the modern era.

Having the foresight to set a goal and persevere towards it was exactly what brought us here today. I also try to impart this wisdom to everyone I come across in my daily life.

This is a universally applicable quality and anyone who wishes to be successful at any goal, whether the goal is to find the right financing or a home or start a company, must use it to succeed.
