Meet Erika Tran

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erika Tran.

Erika, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in San Francisco and during my adolescent years, I grew up in Long Beach. I was raised by my single mother and my three grandparents. My mother has always done her best to make sure my grandparents, my brother and I have food on the table and a roof over our heads. I was a very observant child. I paid very close attention to my mother’s internal pain and struggles. Her hardship has taught me to be empathetic and nurturing kid. During my adolescent years, I wonder if everyone was going through the same life experience as mine. Over time, I became more observant and wanting to learn more about other people’s culture and upbringing. It is a constant question for me if we are all the same and or share similar life path or are we all different.

Like most people in their 20s, I graduated college, got a 9 to 5 job and or go back to school and get a higher education. I followed what was expected of me. Life took a turn when I got married in my late 20s. From an outsider looking in, I had it all, the degree, the house, the perfect marriage and family. It wasn’t enough for me. During my eight years relationship, I was portraying someone who I wasn’t. I was following other footsteps for the sake of acceptance, wanting to feel worthy and loved by others. It was when I turned 31, and it hit me. I was no longer happy with my job, I was no longer happy with my marriage. Overall, I was not happy with myself. I questioned my purpose in life. I started to ask the question Who Am I? I lost my identity.

I knew I need to make a change in my life. In 2013, I left my marriage; I took some time off of work and traveled, and did some humanitarian work oversea. I was hoping to find answers and truth to unknown questions. I was seeking for my purpose. These travels were my growth to step out of my bubble and comfort zone. It was my last major trip to Vietnam in 2017 that I figured out my purpose, which is to help people to find their authenticity, inner peace and purpose. This was my beginning journey becoming Reiki Master Practioner, Meditation Teacher and Spiritual Energy Healer and Life Coach.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
For over 25 years, I suffered from depression and anxiety. It started at the age of 6-7 when my parents decided to divorce. It took a toll for my mother and the rest of the family. From then on, I remembered witnessing my mother struggle with addiction, unbalanced work and home life, and her battle with depression. Then later years, I ended up following her footsteps by having my own drinking addiction, breakdowns, and depression.

I was raised in a family to never discuss our problems and stress level with anyone. Therefore, I caged my feelings and emotions for years. I hit my lowest point from 2011-2015. My depression, anxiety, and drinking addiction were getting worse. I was in complete lost, helpless, out of place, even thoughts of suicide at times. Over the years, I was introduced to meditation, Reiki, and other alternative healing tools to help me healed my past. During my healing process, I’ve done lots of self-care work. I practice yoga, walking meditation, journaling, setting boundaries with people, and spend alone time to self-reflect.

I’ve decided to begin my journey by taking healing courses, such as Reiki and other energy healing tools, to help heal myself. I used to assist my mentors and friends Jamie Wozny and Laurasia Mattingly at Den Meditation in Los Angeles, to gain more Intuitive and Reiki practice. Never thought using these tools to create a business and help others heal around me. I noticed a significant shift the way I view my life and how I view the world.

The two biggest lessons for me was forcing myself to face my past trauma and my family lineage and their past traumas and be consciously aware of my mental health, which includes my emotional, psychological, and social well-being. My biggest fear was following my parents’ footsteps and constantly worry that my family past life will carry over to my life and future. It took me a long time to realize that we all have a choice to change our life and change the energy around us. People we cross path in our lives are a reflection of us, so be the mirror you wish to see.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a certified Reiki Master and Energy Healer Practioner, NLP Life Coach, and Meditation Teacher. I do private Reiki Healing and Energy Healing sessions. I incorporate life coaching skills with each session. A lot of my sessions are either in person or distance. I live in Pasadena but I travel to see my clients in Los Angeles, South Bay and Orange County area. I collaborate with many growing community groups in Los Angeles, such as Conscious Collective Healing and Happy Soul Collective, just to name a few. I also lead meditation practice for private and corporate events. My mission is to help others learn how important it is to be aware of our mental health and be aware of our energy. I wish to hold space for people to release their old patterns, healing their past wounds, clearing any stagnant energy and start speaking and living their authentic selves. I wish to guide others to live their life with purpose and fulfillment.

We all have a choice in life and wish to change the energy around us. Today and everyday, you can choose to live your life with ease and joy. Be and see yourself as others sees you.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I would like to thank my friends and family who supported my business journey. I also would like to thank my teachers, friends and mentors: Jamie Wozny and Kathryn Schiff, they have taught me so much about spirituality, energy healing and more. Most importantly, I would like to thank all my clients and students for trusting me and allowing me to hold space for all of you. If I learned anything from this journey, every person I have cross path and helped healed any shape or form, not only I have helped them but they have also helped healed a piece of me.
