Meet Carla Bianca Ravanes Higham of Trumer Fine Jewelry and PR Consultant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carla Bianca Ravanes Higham.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Carla Bianca. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been a huge lover of good storytelling and maybe that’s the reason why I become a writer and a publicist.

I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines and I graduated with a degree in Business Administration Major in International Marketing and a minor in Advertising and Public Relations. I moved to Los Angeles in early 2017 to be with my husband, Anthony.

I was working as a Publicist in the Philippines and have had experience handling multinational brands such as Coca-Cola, Starbucks Philippines, Nickelodeon, Singapore Tourism Board, Colgate, Honda, Crocs Philippines and other local brands like Jollibee. I am also a writer, having had my column in the Manila Times, the country’s oldest newspaper since 2014 but I have been writing for them since 2010. My written work has also been featured in various publications, both online and print.

My other passion is education. I taught my first college class when I was 19 teaching Principles of Advertising and English for Business before teaching children with learning disabilities as an Educational Therapist.

After ten years of working in Manila, I did the unthinkable and dared to start over in Los Angeles. It really was a fresh start – it took a while for me to learn the ropes in Los Angeles but thankfully there are friends who are helpful. I started working for Trumer Fine Jewelry in September as its one-woman PR / Marketing team while helping small businesses with digital and PR marketing endeavors.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely has not been easy to uproot your life and start over. I’ve been visiting California since I was a child but to actually live here and not be a tourist is entirely different. The struggle and the blessing are found in starting all over again – in a way, it’s a struggle because everything you’ve worked hard for goes back to zero but it’s also a blessing because not everyone can have a fresh start.

The secret is humility and knowing that you are not defined by the job you do. I used to define myself by my position but moving here has taught me to separate myself from what I do. The second is understanding that sometimes other people’s stories are more important than my own and the goal is to help another in whatever what I can.

Please tell us about Trumer Fine Jewelry and PR Consultant.
My day job is a being a one-woman marketing team for Trumer Fine Jewelry in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. Our founder, Aviv Trumer, has been in the wholesale diamond business for over 25 years but he recently opened his retail line early this year because he saw an opportunity to sell quality jewelry pieces at reasonable prices. He is a man of integrity and transparency in all his dealings and that is refreshing in this industry. My goal is to share his passion with people, to let them know that jewelry doesn’t have to be intimidating, and that if you have the knowledge, you can have the jewelry pieces you’ve always dreamed of.
The best part is when people come in, give us their budget, and they see that they can have more than what they asked for.

My other job is as a PR / Marketing Consultant for personalities and small businesses. The beauty of Los Angeles is that there are so many small businesses that are waiting to share their story and I love to take part in that. I know that there are many small businesses that cannot afford the expertise of a big PR / Marketing firm so that’s where my heart is.

I also work for #SoJannelle, a lifestyle show hosted and produced by Jannelle so that is shown on The Filipino Channel and the Lifestyle Network.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I’ve thought about this question before and I’ve had different scenarios in my head but knowing that this is how God orchestrated it, despite the struggles and the challenges, and I accept the way things turned out. It has taught me a lot in a short period of time.
