Meet Courtney Poulos of ACME Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Poulos.

Courtney hails from the East Coast, graduated college with a degree in Journalism/Public Relations from the esteemed Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland at College Park, and spent 9 years working in arts and entertainment public relations prior to entering real estate. Courtney has been selling real estate for 13 years.

She recently was the host of FYI Networks, “My City’s Just Not That Into Me,” where she played real estate matchmaker with buyers and sellers and cities nationwide.

Courtney Poulos founded ACME Real Estate in 2011 on the idea that there was a market for real estate service and design that resonates with the modern day forward-thinking hip Angelenos that call this city home. With her keystone client, bettershelter, Courtney has created a new frontier for branding home restorations and getting them to design-focused buyers. She thrives off of creativity and loves that she can bring unique inspiration to clients through the ACME blog, which features the best-of-the-best homes on the market, design trends, and local faves!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a woman in leadership in real estate comes with some overt challenges. We have to reacquaint ourselves with how to be assertive and results-based, while remaining collegial and professional. It is competitive, sometimes petty, but at the end of the day, integrity, honesty and accountability win out every time.

I’m very proud of the team at ACME and enjoy watching us grow as the antithesis to the “big brokerage” experience.

ACME Real Estate – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
ACME was created to offer a client-forward experience to our clients. We support the marketing and branding of our designer renovation artists, making sure that their name and logo are at the forefront of all of our advertising. As a boutique, we don’t have to ask permission to make bold billboards, or to change our logo in support of our brothers and sisters in the fight for equality and inclusion.

Our residential resale clients know we have the buyers. With over 200K unique hits per month on the ACME blog, listings sell quickly and for more than asking.

We are known for our extraordinary curated listings, and our track record of exceeding client expectations on purchase and resale. Any price point, any neighborhood. We have LA covered.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I presented on a panel at the California Association of Realtor’s “WomanUp!” conference. I was asked how I define happiness. The greatest source of joy for me is in training agents to become world-class Realtors and to continue to endorse ACME’s independence. To be content with the structure of what I’ve built…to give myself permission to be HAPPY…that was and is the proudest moment of my career.
