Today we’d like to introduce you to Zee Najarian.
Zee, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I never wanted to settle for mediocre. That little voice inside me always told me that I’m made for something greater, but I had no idea what, so I just ignored it. I settled for less, I kept complicating things and I kept hiding my true self from the world. Then there came a time where that voice was so loud that I couldn’t ignore it anymore. I yearned for a life in which I had total independence. I wanted to be anywhere that I wanted at any point in time. I wanted to do anything that my heart desired without asking for permission. I wanted my life to be a constant workcation – a cross between vacation and work. I wanted to be able to work from anywhere in the world. Even though I didn’t know how I was going to get there, I knew that I had to find a way. Online businesses didn’t exist at that time. There was no such thing as working from home. Every single person in my life told me I’m crazy. But I am a rebel at heart. When people tell me it can’t be done, I make sure I do it.
I came across the idea of being an online entrepreneur four years ago and I haven’t looked back since. I knew that this was going to give me the freedom and lifestyle that I longed for. I built my online business one day at a time. I had no idea what to do, how to get there or what exactly I was going to sell. All I knew was that THIS is what I was looking for my whole life. I just showed up every single day. I did the work. The path revealed itself as I took action.
I have spent the past 15 years trying to get over the “there has to be more to life” feeling and after having countless different jobs, serving on different nonprofit boards and getting multiple degrees, I now use my experience and expertise to help women build a life that they love.
I believe that you will always find what you’re looking for! If you look for reasons why something won’t work out for you, you will find endless reasons. If you choose to believe that you deserve the life of your dreams, you will always find opportunities to get there.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I always look at obstacles as detours in the right direction. I don’t know if it was something that I was born with or something that I developed along the way but ever since I can remember I have always taken struggles as opportunities to learn. You will absolutely never end up where you think you are going to end up. SO many beautiful things happen along the way. If you can see the struggles as a sign that there is a better path, you will always be successful. It’s like the bird who gets trapped indoors and keeps banging his head against the door trying to get out. All he has to do is look two inches to the right to see the open window. Most people quit way too soon. Those who actually are successful are the ones who just keep going. That’s the only secret to success.
Please tell us about your work.
I coach multi-passionate rebel women who are tired of jobs and of people telling them how to do things and who want to create a life that they love. I help women figure out what their superpower is and then turn that into money. The thing that I am most proud of is my commitment to empowering women across all socioeconomic backgrounds. I am currently the president of a nonprofit, Bloom Again Foundation, which provides rapid financial aid to economically vulnerable women when they are faced with a medical challenge. Most people like to complete. I don’t believe in competition. I’m all about collaboration. We will always go further together. I will always teach everything that I know without fear of anyone taking a piece of my pie. I believe that confidence knows no competition and that is the biggest lesson that I teach women.
What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Have self-integrity. Show up and do work that you’re proud of. You never have to be the smartest, the prettiest or the luckiest. I never was any of those things. I just always stuck to my word. I always put out work that I was proud of even if I hated the work I was doing. That is the only thing that has given me so many opportunities and connections. Anyone that I have worked with always knew that they can count on me to deliver on any promises that I made.
