Inspiring Conversations with Kyle Perera of Cleopatra Records

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Perera.

Hi Kyle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My family runs the label Cleopatra Records and after high school, I started working for the company right away. I wanted to see utilizing the infrastructure we had, and how modernized as a label we can become. Once my dad started signing more urban acts I saw this as a good placeholder to reach out & discover new talent and go up with them.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s definitely been a wild roller coaster, you have to experience the worst to learn from your mistakes & see how you can better yourself. At one time I was representing around 20 artists & realized that I was incapable and I need to cut down the roster to around 3-5 who id work with day-to-day.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Cleopatra Records is an independent label founded by mom & dad in 1992. My dad doesn’t just specialize in one genre & brand. We’ve worked with every genre of music. The most exciting thing about working at a record label is tracking the results of a high streaming record, and setting the marketing plans with a unique music video, and of course, now Tik Tok campaigns. I’m very proud of the new talent I discovered and how dedicated they are to prospering in music at a longevity point. A few new talented artists we have on our roster are Original God, Sleepsk8, Goner, Dog, Slayloverboy, Zelly Ocho, Sovren and Keith Canva$. Each artist has their own unique sound and creative direction & I plan on working with for a very long time.
