Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Westphalen.
Sarah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Starting with a background in textiles and moving to Los Angeles, I found my place in the art scene not quite knowing where I fit. Through a friend, I started to work on film sets and one day, I tagged along with her to a client meeting for an interiors project. I quickly fell in love and knew that was exactly what I wanted to do.
Breaking into the industry was a challenge, but once I found my first role as a design assistant things started to evolve. I spent my nights after work teaching myself about design and learning new programs. This led me to a new position as an interior designer for a design build firm specializing in luxury residential projects. In the year of 2020, I left my corporate career and took my interior design business full time. It was definitely a year of change and self-growth as both a business owner and an artist; trying to balance all of my creativity and everyday tasks of running a business. Not knowing all the challenges I would face, I quickly realized I needed to bring on help for installations and construction site visits. One project at a time and collaborations with influencers the business began to grow. In the beginning, working 18 hour days for weeks on end, not knowing if it would all be worth it, but I kept going with my vision. Marking the one-year anniversary of Sarah West Interiors, we are releasing my passion project called Remnant, a sustainable luxury furniture line handcrafted in Los Angeles.
We’ve been impressed with Sarah West Interiors, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
