Daily Inspiration: Meet Pepz Javier

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pepz Javier.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Pepz (born Andres Javier) and am an entertainer, foreign exchange investor/educator, and success coach who is still pursuing and uncovering new dreams. Getting asked how I started is a weird question because in thinking about it, I realized how many times I’ve had several beginnings. Be it moving from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (where I was born) at the age of 5 to the US or finally really having to learn English at the age of 10, to deciding I wanted to start dancing and pursuing dance at the age of 20 and moving to LA at the age of 25 were all new beginnings.

All of these moments were so big for me, especially learning English at the age of 10 because I realized how much I needed to learn. The way I went about learning English was that I was at a 2-way bilingual school (which is basically when you go to an all Spanish speaking school, with one hour of ESL) and my parents transferred me to an only-English speaking school, where I quickly learned I didn’t really know nor belonged to the American culture, definitely didn’t know English (my parents would have to help me do my homework by using English-Spanish dictionaries to just past the instructions), and most of all that I needed to quickly learn how to catch up and keep up if I wanted to do well.

Thankfully my parents led by example (they worked in restaurants and factories until they learned English so that they could become teachers), showed me that everything just comes down to hard work and pushing through no matter what to get ahead in life. All of that pretty much set the template to my life now…even though I knew from around the age of 4-5 (according to my mom) that I wanted to be in entertainment, I didn’t really begin pursuing it on a serious and aggressive level until 2015 when I moved to LA which was when I really kicked it into overdrive.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Oh goodness, that’s a big NO! Even in the six years I’ve spent in LA, I feel like I’ve gone through it all.

From car accidents to getting diagnosed with Lupus (and thankfully miraculously healed from it) to working 50 + hours in my former career as a Human Resources specialist while pursuing entertainment and running on less than 4 hours asleep a night for five years to going through heartbreak to losing my grandfather who I took care of for six years to getting laid off two days before thanksgiving to going completely broke, while still dealing with the ins and outs of creating a career/life in the entertainment industry has been insane.

With everything I’ve gone through, pre and during LA, I remain grateful. From each situation, I’ve been able to really learn some really important lessons about people and myself that have allowed me to see how far I can really go, how amazing people can truly be, and that at the end of the day when everything seems to be going bat-s**t crazy and unfamiliar, it always works out.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
This was probably the hardest question for me to answer cause I’m both an artist and entrepreneur. The life I’m building for myself is inspired by Jennifer Lopez and Tony Robbins, and I fight to make sure that I honor both sides of who I am and how I will continue to impact the world.

Creatively, I’m an entertainer with a strong love for music, performing, and acting. Many people know me for dancing, modeling, and fitness but I’ve been stepping more and more into what I’ve always seen myself as: a musical artist and actor. Currently, I’m working on two EPs and returning to my first love of acting. From a business perspective, I’ve developed a strong passion for public speaking, coaching, and investing. I’m currently in the process of establishing my own company, Pep Talk with Pepz, which I plan on having a formal launch within the next two years.

Over the span of the next 12-20 months, I plan on releasing my website, at least one EP, my first book (which is currently under revision/rewrites), as well as scaling my online business geared towards digital entrepreneurism by way of investing and personal development.

Professionally, what I am most proud of is being told by other Latinos and people of color, especially parents, that I’m inspiring both kids and adults, who physically look like me and come from very little that they can pursue their dreams and take up space.

What sets me apart from others are: my integrity bar is really high. Integrity is everything and everything that we say we will do, we should do it. Whether it’s a big or small (i.e., returning a call or showing up on TIME), I’ve learned that my word is my bond and that my actions will either strengthen or break that bond. If I don’t do what I say, then at some point people will stop trusting me; thankfully, I’ve worked on and continue to work on myself to the point where very rarely does my commitment and integrity ever come into question.

What makes you happy?
Going to church (especially with my friends and family), red velvet cake with dark chocolate raspberry ice cream, hanging out with my friends and family, traveling, working out, singing, dancing, laying down on my floor getting lost into music (I can do this for hours, with a glass of wine), dancing (especially with my mom), day-trading, not being on zoom all day…honestly my life right now isn’t perfect, but I can’t think of anything in my life right now that doesn’t do anything but add to my happiness and my goals.
