Community Highlights: Meet Hana Hawthorne of Lyfejourneys

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hana Hawthorne.

Hi Hana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was raised by a single mother and throughout her life, I witnessed her encounter many barriers but she overcame them and kept thriving in life. She wore many hats and was always a phone call away for anyone in need. During college, I chose to study Social Work to explore the field. After graduating, I had no clue in what capacity I wanted to use my degree so I started working as case manager in different social service agencies. Fast forward to now, I have been a Social Worker for close to 12 years serving in various capacities. The best time I found working with clients was listening to their story to how they arrived to where they needed to a Social Worker to assist them with overcoming a barrier(s). I started to follow the theme that everyone has a journey.

I always wanted to explore Life Coaching and combine it with Social Worker to guide women to overcome barriers and continue to triumph through life.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
On the road to where I am now has not been easy. I am a single mother who decided to branch out and start my own organization during a pandemic. I got to witness many women juggle between motherhood and work-life balance. Once I found that balance within myself, it motivated me to branch and start assisting other mothers and women looking to continue to thrive during this crazy time. Due to being on lockdown social media was taken by storm to grow many businesses. Social Media has created a barrier, due to the forever changing algorithms sometimes it becomes difficult to stay ahead. However, I have to create tunnel vision to stay close to the purpose of Lyfejourneys and getting my voice heard.

We’ve been impressed with Lyfejourneys, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a mom, Life Coach, and Licensed Social Worker. I help single moms with maintaining balance and living life on your terms. I work with moms overcome burned out from balancing that hood we call motherhood and maintaining your work-life balance. I provide one on one consultations and individual coaching to mothers looking to achieve goals to create the life that brings them happiness. While at the same time increasing the knowledge on self-care to keep them emotionally and physically healthy. I help women become more accountable with managing their stress, time, and self-care.

Being a mother to awesome little girl, it took a lot of trial and errors to find that balance. You cannot just stop being a mother nor stop working to provide for your family. But finding the happy medium between the two is bliss. Lyfejourneys was created to assist women to overcoming their barriers and continue to thrive.

My logo has a women with crowns on their heads. The mission will be for every woman that receives services from Lyfejouneys will forever wear crowns and strive to rise to every occasion no matter the outcome.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Becoming an entrepreneur is not easy. Deciding to open a business is big risk. You hear the stories of people opening several businesses before one made a decent profit. Then there are the businesses that work for years before becoming recognize. Growing up, I was taught to go to school, work a job, then retire. However, I see all these businesses like McDonald’s, Amazon, etc. started as one small business that grew to where they are nationally recognize. Taking the risk is the funniest part because you learn as you go and your errors build character.
