Tyriek A Murphy, MPA on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Tyriek A Murphy, MPA and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Tyriek A, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
In true essence, all of these characteristics embody my development on either a professional and personal level, here is how:

As a Leader, a Coach, a Dad, a Man, Integrity holds the first priority in my journey of life. I am very self-aware of my morals and actions to ensure that those I am charged with guiding have genuine and objective information to make sound decisions that best complete their life. My integrity as led to leisure and/or business opportunities for Murphy Enterprise Solutions (MES), the MES Team, and clearly myself that has propelled us to reach a higher level not once fathomed.

Secondly, Intelligence and Energy run parallel to each other as making educated conclusions to achieve productive results while simultaneously having the stamina to execute your operational goal.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Tyriek A. Murphy, MPA, and as the CEO of Murphy Enterprise Solutions (MES), which is a multifaceted Business Management and Consulting entity facilitating companies from the West Coast to East Coast and back, formed in 2016, geared towards organizational implementation, it brings me tremendous pleasure to lead a company designed to deliver multiple services and products across various sectors which will ultimately enhance society’s comfortably.

Presently, outside of overall leadership, I directly monitor the section of MES that provides youth athletes, from Elementary to Secondary Schools, the unique opportunities to excel in training and marketing themselves in the sports world, particularly football. Additionally, I served as the Varsity Head Coach of Football at Capital Prep Harlem and served as an Administration Advisor / Assistant Head Coach at Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School. Before those two journeys, my oversight led to the Uncommon Excellence Boys Varsity Football Team winning the 2023 Uncommon School League Championship, accomplished with scholars who were on High Honor Roll or Honor Roll Academic Status. Moreover, as a Professional Licensed Coach and Nationally Certified Interscholastic Coach, no player under my direct supervision has ever been hurt or injured to the point the scholar-athlete missed a practice or game.

I have earned a Master Degree in Public Administration, with a focus in Organizational Operations & Policy Implementation, and a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts, conducive to the area of Social Sciences and Criminal Justice. I have led a variety of multifaceted teams within the Education, Healthcare, Retail, Social Services, and Department of Corrections industries, to name a few, tasked with implementing modern trends towards entity innovation within various operational settings. Becoming one of modern eras prominent Entrepreneurs and Senior Executive Administrators is a fixed goal.

The MES Brand has four (4) branches: Business Management & Consulting, Fashion, Sports, and Entertainment.

Currently, as the International Author of the literary piece, “Big City Nights: The Biography of Legendary Cisero
Murphy”. In addition, I am an Award-winning Screenwriter in which this book was adapted into a 129-page
screenplay entitled, “Big City Nights: Cisero Murphy Saga” which has earned 27 Foreign and Domestic Screenplay
Awards / Honors to date. Both projects, the book and script, are about the life story of Cisero Murphy, the world’s
ONLY Black Professional Billiards World Title Winner and BCA Hall of Fame Inductee in history and is my Grandfather.

I have had discussions with well known East and West Coast Entertainment Executives in regards to the development of the award-winning project that has interest from current A-list working talent and producers.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
In my early life to present day, I have declared most often than not, bonds between people are broken because of disloyalty and/or greed. I have encountered a plethora of people that gain recognition and rewards through the work of MES and I whom failed, whether involuntarily or voluntarily, to sustain their place within MES because of the fallacy there is a better brand or that they are bigger than MES.

Trust is euphonious to me but to tergiversate one’s actions can grow to become an exhausting facet. Restoring a bond is solely dependent on whether one can establish pure integrity after the violation and if the grieved is willing to extend another opportunity to build.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
In retrospect, I would tell my younger self to always, ALWAYS, be prepared and proactive for unexpected opportunities.

In my senior year of high school, I earned an invitation, as a Left Guard, to the ‘99 Riley Classic High School All-Star Football Game, representing the East. My play led to recruitment from Wilkes University, in Pennsylvania. However, due to the lack preparation and scheduling, the Wilkes University opportunity failed because I did not have a SAT score and the next available chance was after the Wilkes deadline, as a result the offer was rescinded. This moment in time became the foundational driving motivation for me in all I do personally and professionally.

As a Coach, to ensure all my Scholar-Athletes, from elementary to secondary level, are ahead of the process and ready for unexpected opportunities presented regarding their academic-athletic-spiritual journeys. Similarly, as MES Leader, the foresight applies in enhancing MES Staff to level up and conquer their professional outlines.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
One project I am committed to, despite the internal and external obstacles, is the societal recognition of my historical sports iconic grandfather, Cisero Murphy.

Cisero Murphy, a dramatically dynamic individual – whose family ancestry dates back to the late nineteenth century – determined to diversify a sports area dedicated and dominated by Caucasians during the mid-twentieth century. This essential gentleman has repeatedly set records that are still intact today, in the twenty-first century.

Whether locally, nationally, or internationally, my Grandfather displayed the utmost professionalism during times of devastation derived from racial discrimination. Despite the dangerous deviations, he dissected his way through in life; he always found the directional path to overcome the odds.

My Grandfather’s breakthrough ultimately paved the way for other diverse players and, essentially, women to partake in the pastime. As a result, considered by many to be the “Jackie Robinson of Pool” and for whom I coined the phrase “Father of Billiards Diversity”, this iconic figure holds the record, dated March 6th, 1965, for being the ONLY Black World Title Winner and 1995 BCA Hall of Fame Inductee in Professional Billiards History.

Cisero Murphy is undoubtedly the greatest under-appreciated sports figure in history. The majority, if at all, of major entertainers and sports athletes, particularly NFL, NBA, and so on, do not know who made it possible for them to even pick up a cue (pool stick) to play a game whether professionally or recreationally. His story was revealed in the internationally sold literary piece, “Big City Nights: The Biography of Legendary Cisero Murphy”.

“Big City Nights: Cisero Murphy Saga” has earned 27 Foreign and Domestic Screenplay Awards to date. I have had discussions with well known East and West Coast Entertainment Executives in regards to the development of the award-winning project that has interest from current A-list and B-list working talent and producers.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I vehemently believe any person that I have encountered on a personal or professional level would most essentially depict me as Charismatic and Transformative Leader that will do all within my capabilities to put someone in the best position of opportunity. I would hope they elaborate an experience that best described how I was relentless on acquiring the best and solid chance towards their subjective purpose regardless if it required socio-emotional, financial, spiritual, and/or sweat equity.

From a family standpoint, I am certain there will be no clishmaclaver, but a sempiternal sense of value I delivered as a Dad to Tychelle A. Murphy and Tyler A. Murphy. Moreover, I am too young to be a grandfather. Lol!!
