TK, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Who are you learning from right now?
Right now it’s “self”. This whole journey called life where making mistakes and observing the world around me is where I continue to learn. It’s teaching more about taking control of what is it I want in life and constantly learning how to be the best version of myself.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey my name is TK, I’m from the south side of Chicago and live in LA for the last 10yrs. I’m pursuing a career in acting and recently stepped into the producing world. Since my last interview with Voyage I’ve now produced 2 short films and another in the coming months.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
I feel like it wasn’t taught more than the reality as a child my mom only worked to supply needs but the things I wanted I learned through experience I had to put in the work. A man that don’t work don’t eat lol.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Back in 2017, I went homeless for 7 months hoping I could book a job that would get me out of my situation. My agent got me a car audition paying about 4,000$. Throughout the process I ended up getting the job thanking God for this opportunity. 2 days later I never heard back and
Had to call my agent who then told me they decided to go with another actor. I cried in my car for hours debating rather to go back to Chicago and that I wasn’t ready.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Currently in pre production with my team for a sci-fi action fantasy film which will be our third project together.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
As a millennial being the generation that created “social media” and creating the opportunities for yourself where the now Gen z are fiercely utilizing it and generating wealth for themselves. I Don’t want to miss that wave lmaoo.
