The Happy Casualties shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi The Happy, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Who are you learning from right now?
The thing I’m learning the most from right now is a band called Spectral Wound.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
The Happy Casualties are a band from Venice California. We have been around for twenty years. I think our music is pretty good, but the lyrics are better -they really give a solid impression of what it’s like to be alive right now.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
An irresponsible and unserious person.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
Probably when I was 25. All my lyrics are about pain. Life is essentially pain and my lyrics are about life.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Nicholas Ceglio
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I essentially invented the walk signals that count down before the traffic signal turns red. I told some guy at the LA Traffic Division about it when I was 19. He said it was impossible. But now they exist… I could have been a hundredaire.
