We’re looking forward to introducing you to Parker Wright. Check out our conversation below.
Parker, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I think that most people struggle with self doubt. That imposter syndrome bubbles up in all of us. Am I good enough? How do I know if I am? Is there something I could be doing better? Do I need to learn more? What do other people think of me? Right? We all have this inner battle with ourselves and so many people either hide it or lose that battle.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey! I’m Parker Wright, the founder, owner, and executive director of TOTALITY Entertainment. We’re a Los Angeles–based live entertainment company that specializes in creating unforgettable performance experiences, from holiday vocal groups and themed characters to luxury event entertainment and live bands.
What makes TOTALITY special is our focus on taking care of our performers and staff above all, and keeping our quality as high as possible. At times we may look like a big company with a large budget, but most of that comes from the blood sweat and tears from years of effort, and our amazing team that helps keep it all together. We blend high-level musicianship, custom arrangements, and immersive character work to make each event truly memorable.
We’ve grown from a small contemporary caroling group, Jingle 5, to full-scale productions with stilt walkers, vocal groups, and live bands performing across Los Angeles and Tennessee. Right now, we’re expanding into new cities, building out entertainment options and collaborating with major venues to bring more creative, elevated live experiences to audiences everywhere.
At the end of the day, TOTALITY is about creating magic moments that make people smile, dance, or just stop and live in the moment.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
Ooh, this is a tricky one. I think the part of me that worries about how other people perceive me. So many of my insecurities stem from what other people have told me and from what other people think I should be doing. It’s interesting because the more you do, the more people have input on what you SHOULD do, and so many of those opinions differ. The part of me that I have been and am releasing is the part that let’s other people dictate the “right” way to do things.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have been so many times where things have been hard over the years, but only one time where I was right on the line of giving up and throwing in the towel. It was right as we were starting our first rehearsal of the season. It was a difficult time and I felt like everything was falling apart. I was metaphorically centimeters away from giving up and told myself, “just cancel everything, be done with it and go home.” I looked up at the group of our performers in front of me, eager to rehearse and prepare for our busiest holiday season yet and told myself “Take a breath, just wait until tomorrow. Don’t make a big decision when your emotions are high”
And I just kept pushing through. Since then we did a rebrand, expanded to Tennessee and are now partnering with Universal Studios Hollywood for the show at Grinchmas!
None of that would have happened if I just gave up.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
It’s all just intuition and a hunch. Trying to read people and see where people are going culturally and as a society. I don’t REALLY know, nobody does, but I think as a society, we are in a major transitional period.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What light inside you have you been dimming?
Honestly, my love of performing. So much of the past 7 years has been either building the company or pushing through COVID.
I haven’t performed much myself in a while, and I miss it dearly.
