We’re looking forward to introducing you to $kooby D. Check out our conversation below.
$kooby, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Recording at the park has been my go to lately.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Well, everyone calls me $koobyD and I am a hip-hop artist, songwriter, & writer. What makes me different is that I am a one man powerhouse. I have had my hands in various aspects of the music industry and other avenues so I have the experience in damn there everything. At this moment in time I am working on a few things musically and a couple of books and screenplays so I would say I am pretty tied up.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Wow see I don’t think I realized the extent of what I could fully do until i didn’t do enough and when I used it for wrong. Throughout life I found out that it’s easy to do wrong but even harder to do right. It’s easier to go with the easier solution than to sit and put something together and show those around you will and integrity. I have no specific situation that I would like to share. Only that it’s better to bask in respect than it is to bask in fear. Use your power wisely.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I think the most important thing that being at my lowest has taught me that success doesn’t really intertwine with is connectivity to who you really are. You see money can take you anywhere you want to go except to your inner self, the true you. Even some of the most successful people in the world still struggle with who they are when they look at themselves in the mirror. But the most self aware, the most self conscious is the one who has left all of the extras behind and has harnessed the power to find ones self’s thru whatever means. It is has helped shape me into the person I am today.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Without a doubt. I have met people from all parts of my life that’ll tell you the same thing.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
That ain’t nothing to it but to do it, perseverance will take you far, and f**k what the other have to say. Do what yo do best and trash the rest. Live free by your means and show the world that without a doubt you can be exactly who you are and still change the world.
