We’re looking forward to introducing you to Fealofani Salausa. Check out our conversation below.
Fealofani, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I start off with my daily gratitude routine, then I listen to a prayer and do atleast 30 to 45 minutes of personal development depending on my mood. Journaling used to be my daily practice I would do it 2-3 times a day. I’ll be restarting it in 2026. When I can fit in a morning session at the gym, a beach stroll or just a 10 minute walk to reflect on things I do it.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I started fitness training in 2014 by the time I got to 2021 my fitness journey evolved into community service. First my kids and I started picking up trash at the local parks in Carson then I started volunteering for seniors. Eventually I started doing free giveaways which included fresh fruits , healthy meals, water and healthy snacks. Soon after I added free workout classes and hiking events for the community. Eventually I decided to verge my fitness & cleaning eating skills into a full blown community service schedule which is still active today. Before I was able to have any volunteers my mom Selma Salausa and son Faafetai Gipson helped me with everything I needed to serve the community. Soon after one of my closest friends Ashley Lambey joined me. Laura Roybal, Stephanie Armstrong, Ora Buck, and Sherry Davis have all played a major part in what we have created into our nonprofit known as Carson Fitfam Foundation. The unique part about this story is we remained community volunteers and funded everything out of pocket between 2021-2025. Without these amazing women & my immediate family I’m not sure I would’ve lasted this long on this mission. Now that we’ve been serving our community consistently we want to expand our reach and services by applying for our very first 501 c3 status so we can help and do so much more!
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
The person that believed in me before anyone else did was my dad Vate [Tuitavate Salausa] he passed back in 2011 from stage 4 lung cancer. However I still value and take to heart everything he’s ever taught me. Without his words of encouragement and strong beliefs about integrity; I’m not sure I’d have the same confidence in myself that I have now and for that I’ll always honor him.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes on October 4, 2025 I had my first serious episode in which I almost lost my battle to repeated suicidal thoughts. About 2-3 weeks prior to that it was just glimpses and multiple thoughts of self doubt and just feeling like a complete failure honestly I didn’t see a way out. My 18 year son Tai saved and consoled me for almost 3 hours. Since then I made a vow to myself to never go that low again!
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I declared back in November 2021 that I wanted to help at least 1% of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s impact on this world within my lifetime.
Until then I’m NOT stopping! The best place to start is my hometown the city Carson. I understand this is a huge and very daring goal but I don’t mind putting in the work let’s goooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
PROCRASTINATION IMMEDIATELY
