El Santo, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Working construction in the States makes me lose track of time, but going back to Mexico brings my soul back — it reignites my spirit and inspires me to create a new album.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m El Santo Del Valle. I represent Mexican culture through my music, blending styles of rap with authentic Latin sounds to create a unique vibe that honors my roots while pushing the genre forward.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My dad taught me the most about work. Since I was 5 years old, he took me with him to work construction, showing me how hard it is to hustle and earn a living. That’s why, after 8 years, I’ve never quit on my music.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yeah, I almost gave up last year. As I got older, I started fearing that I was losing time chasing this dream and not taking care of my life. But thankfully, I found balance and now I’m back stronger than ever.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, it is. If anything, I’m more amplified in public because we’re only born once, and my face carries generational weight — so I keep representing my people and culture with pride.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
They’ll say a Latino made it to the big league — that someone who started as a construction day laborer became a star and made his dream possible.
