Story & Lesson Highlights with Darmirra of Los Angeles

Darmirra shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Darmirra, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I believe I am a wanderer and that this is the path I chose to walk. I know that my purpose on this Earth is very unique and for that reason I have been called to do many things. I love exploring my talents and creative ideas. I love learning and developing new skills. I also love meeting new people. Being a wanderer allows me to do all of these things. The world is wondrous when you are a wanderer!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
“Wonderful” I love what you did there! I’m an actress, comedian, writer and singer located in sunny California. The City of Angels to be exact. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, I moved to Los Angeles when I was only 9 years old. Immediately I “caught the bug” and Hollywood became my new home. I love to express myself in any and every way possible. My Youtube channel “The Darmirra Show” is where I can tap into my comedic talents and create original characters or impersonations. I also have a podcast called “Sprinkle of Heaven, Spoonful of Truth” where I explore the complexities of the Ego and the Soul. Each episode is a magnificent journey that guides listeners towards a purpose driven life, powered by spirituality. Aside from my personal content you can also check out my work in the comedic series “Love Thy Neighbor” available now on Tubi. Or you can watch the new animated series “Sausage Party” via Amazon Prime, where I voice a variety of characters. Within this past year I’ve decided to explore my love for music. I recently wrote a song for Showtime’s award winning series “The Chi”. I am proud to announce that I am now a verified artist on Apple Music and Spotify. I have a rap album, an electronic instrumental album, a meditation album and so much more. Last but certainly not least look out for my latest short film ” A Divine Intervention” which will be released in 2026!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
I have a really cool relationship with God. I always have and I always will. I’m extremely thankful for that. There have been many times in my life where I have felt alone and it was God that saw me through. God sees the best in me even when I don’t quite see it myself. My relationship with God gives me the strength to passionately pursue my purpose. I know who I am because I know “Whose” I Am.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
This is such a beautiful question because you can succeed in your suffering and your success can also cause you to suffer. What life has taught me is that there is triumph in our trials. Suffering came to teach me that I am much stronger than I pretend to be. Suffering taught me how to appreciate the things we take for granted like simply being alive or in our right state of mind. Suffering has introduced me to humility and for that I will always be grateful. There is an ebb and flow to life. What goes up must come down. Life has taught me that suffering ends where acceptance begins!

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely, not. I personally believe that some things should remain a mystery. When it comes to my “public appearance” it’s usually pretty polished. I like to save the authentic, unfiltered, messy version of myself for the people I’m closest to. As artists, we are constantly giving ourselves away. Preserving my true essence, allows me to feel as though I’m saving something for myself. Simply put, the “real me” is more accessible in “real life”.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I can definitely say that I am doing what I was born to do. I understand how much of a blessing it is to feel this way. It’s an honor to be on a path that guides me to do what I am called to do. Whether I am writing a song for a television series, producing an album or filming a movie, I am always doing what I was born to do. Or perhaps I’m simply, being a kind person, making time for a stranger or encouraging a loved one. I was born to do all of these things too. I was born to be a bright light in this world. My light is my legacy!
