Hi Brenda, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I’m learning to take my time, slow down. and enjoy the little things in life again lately. Spending time with good friends, making new ones, and having long, sometimes nostalgic conversations makes me really happy.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m an illustrator and designer based in LA County. My art is heavily influenced by comics & books, music, and things I see in my every day life. I LOVE exploring color, which ends up with me often creating very different color palettes from piece to piece. When I’m not working my day job, I enjoy working on my own personal art and trying out new mediums and art styles.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My closest childhood girlfriends have always been there for me. They’ve helped me navigate some of the hardest times in my life, seen me at my highs and lows, and helped encourage me to find myself. When it felt like I couldn’t see my path in life beyond my two feet, they’ve always been my biggest cheerleaders.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
That no matter how terrible hardships can feel in that moment, the event passes, and eventually you can look back on that time and see how much you’ve grown since. Though the feeling of success is great, suffering teaches you to keep pushing, to keep moving.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Empathy and kindness. I value empathy a lot and I try my best to think of others and see how certain situations may affect them, then act accordingly. I try my best to be there and support my friends/other people.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Fretting over inconsequential things and negative thoughts.
