Story & Lesson Highlights with Belen Riverol of North Hollywood

We recently had the chance to connect with Belen Riverol and have shared our conversation below.

Belen, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is a normal day like for you right now?
I wake up in the morning, work out at the gym to get my body prepared and warmed out for the day. Have coffee with my best friend and start rehearsing or taking dance classes. I usually take between one and two classes a day, maximum 4 if I really feel like dancing all day 🙂

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Belen, I’m 27 and I come from Argentina. I sacrificed everything to pursue my career in dance in Los Angeles, my dreams are so big that I had to let go of my comfort zone to start the hard and constant process of getting better every day. I got my talent visa and since day 1 I’m working and training as a dancer and that fulfills me more than anything. I want to get signed so that’s my next goal as of now. My ultimate goal is to dance at the Super Bowl

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That you have to ask permission to do what you want to do. That I have to always put everybody first before me because if I didn’t that should make me feel guilty. I stopped believing in that as I grew up. If I don’t fight for my dreams no one else will. So I have to do what’s best for me and the people that love me will come along and the ones that don’t will get lost in the process

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oof, it’s a constant battle on my mind. Sometimes I wonder if I chose the right career or the right place to pursue it. LA and art are two very difficult areas to succeed in, and if you are not bold enough you can get lost in the process. It gets too much very often so it’s easier to want to give up every time but then I remind myself of everything I’ve done so far and everything I had to sacrifice to get there and I give myself grace to keep going

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Super Bowl!!!! I’m never gonna stop until I dance on that stage. Man I always envision myself going out to the stadium to perform while millions of people watching… it gives me chills and when that moment comes, I know everything and all the pain was completely worth it!!

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I was very ambitious and resilient, you can dream as big as you want that there’s ALWAYS gonna be a way. It’s up to you if you strong enough to face the difficulties. But you can make it anywhere you want in life
