Alex, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
We are a business that it first seems as a Mexican restaurant but the thing people don’t understand is that we are trying to have fun mixing flavors and products around us to make a unique cuisine that we call Los Angeles cuisine
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We are the evil cooks, a brand originated in Los Angeles to be specific in a little town north east LA. Called Hell Sereno, we stared back in 2018, as a T-Shirt company but with 17+ years cooking in different kitchens all over we decided that it was time to create our little monster and offer what people was asking for (food) we stared with te idea of having fun and make some dollars to pay rent, and we still doing the same thing just now with a clearer vision of putting our little seed in the food industry in Los Angeles
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
This journey is amazing and makes me feel
Full but is not a journey or path that i build myself this has a strong women that saw something that i never imagined, potential in our brand. That was my wife Elvia Garcia the woman who makes this company strong
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
That feeling never really leaves, as humans we know nothing is forever and you have to reinvent yourself and what you create every once in a while, business in general and life are unpredictable and you’ll see downs behind the scenes that make you think you are coming to an end of your career but the next day is always a brighter day and you rethink and see the possibilities of keep going, get up and get stronger
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That everything is giggles and roses, the reality is that behind the scenes you would cry, sweet, stressed, and even want to leave your dreams but this is part of growing as a individual and as a successful entrepreneur, it’s ok the fall 100 time but undust yourself and get up 101, patience, consistency and stay true to your beliefs
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
I regret nothing, I have failed a thousand of times and took the wrong decision over and over again and without hesitation I would do it again in order to be in the same place where I’m right now, it might sound cheesy but is the truth, I love the process that brought me here and I know anything that’s coming would be for good because there’s always light at the end of the tunnel
