We’re looking forward to introducing you to Saba Moor-Doucette. Check out our conversation below.
Saba, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity is the most important thing. You can be smart and have a shit-load of intelligence, but I’ve always believed honesty is the best policy. If a person doesn’t have integrity it means they don’t trust themselves, and if a person doesn’t trust themselves, why should *I* trust them?
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Saba! Emmy-winning filmmaker, metaphysical practitioner, fitness & health guru, currently holding a 13 year record of taking the gold as a bikini diva sports model. The unique thing about this is that I started my fitness career when I was 69 and took my last gold medal in 2024 at 81. I have also been in show business all of my life, both in front of and behind the camera. Last August, I was diagnosed with anal cancer, had surgery, and almost died from chemo and radiation poisoning. This past year I have been building myself back to bikini diva sports model shape—both in mind and body.
My latest book “Fit for Life: Think It, Do It, Be It” explains my journey into my healthy lifestyle, and my Think It Do It Be it process helps people reach any goal they desire.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I no longer believe that I am less than everyone else. I believe in myself, I believe in my power, and I believe that all my experiences can help other people to believe the same thing about themselves.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
The defining wounds of my life was becoming a widow, twice! Once when I was 22 with two children, and again when I was 58 with three more children.
The first one devastated me for seven years. With the second one, it was a lot easier to heal because, by then, I had become a metaphysical practitioner. Having the consciousness of a practitioner helped me realize that I was still alive, and since I was alive, it would be better for me to live my life with joy instead of suffering the loss. Becoming a practitioner taught me how to live, and it taught me how to live with joy. It taught me that I was the one in charge, and that I am the one who can make a decision: to be happy or to suffer. I chose “happy.” 🙂
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I am committed to helping whoever I can know they have the power to be and do anything they desire. That has been my basic belief with everything I do, even as a bikini diva sports model in my 70s and 80s. I believed in the saying, “First you gotta get their attention.” In getting everyone’s attention, and taking the gold, everyone wanted to know how I was able to do what I did at that age. It’s then when I tell them about the “Think It, Do it, Be it” process, and share everything I know that can help them reach goals they never thought they could before.
Besides helping people reach their goals, one of my personal goals has been to get my feature film “Destiny” produced with me as a director. It was written by myself and my late husband Bob, and I have had that dream for 35 years. I know that it will become a reality no matter how long it takes.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Are you kidding? I’m 82! If I didn’t think I was going to live to 125, I might have 10 years left! And what would I stop doing immediately? Nothing!
