Rising Stars: Meet William Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to William Brown.

Hi William, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started making videos around seventh grade and I’ve loved making them ever since. I dreamed about being one of the biggest content creators in the world. But me not knowing how much work it takes, I gave up multiple times, I wasn’t being consistent enough I really didn’t start taking it seriously and being consistent until 2020 when the pandemic hit. I found out about Tiktok and I started posting at least 3 to 5 videos a day. This really made my page blow up and get the exposure I’ve always wanted, reaching over 340,000 followers on TikTok and over 47,000 on Instagram.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was a rough journey to get where I’m at now. I feel like what brought me the most pain was after making a video, spending almost 10 hours working on it & only getting six likes and 20 views and most of those people are family. I wasn’t reaching a real audience on YouTube, and I would say that was the hardest part of my career. So I found out about Tiktok and I was receiving a lot of attention and that’s when things got a little easier for me. I always remember this quote from my dad “Be the best at whatever you do & don’t ever say you can’t do something; you can do anything you put your mind to” and I believe that and thought about him saying that to me every time I felt like giving up

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a video creator I make comedy skits, dance videos, and I also make music as well. I can also edit extremely well. I love making videos; it’s my passion, But I’ve also always been into music all my life. I was first chair trumpet in high school, which set me apart from others because most of the kids in high school wanted to be a football player or basketball player, But I was in a band. I’m proud of winning first place at Oakley‘s got talent. I’m proud of being able to grow an audience that loves my work. I’m known for my TikTok videos and Instagram reels.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I call it taking a leap of faith; you won’t get anywhere in this industry without investing in yourself because it takes money to make money and that’s one of the biggest things about wanting to be a video creator. Equipment isn’t cheap so what I did back in 2020 was take a leap of faith and buy my first camera which was $1000 after I bought that camera. I had $40 left in my account but I took that risk, and I made all my money back and then some by making videos every single day with that camera. So I think it’s good to take risks because you won’t get anywhere if you don’t.
