We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey hasn’t been easy. I’ve already relocated across three different countries, each time starting from scratch. It’s been a path filled with both challenges and growth. One of the biggest hurdles has been building a network within the industry—earning people’s trust and being considered for meaningful projects.
Working as a Director of Photography in a place like Los Angeles, where the talent pool is incredibly deep, is no small feat. But despite the competition, there’s still room for creativity and opportunities to carve out your own space.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in Direction of Photography and have a deep passion for capturing a wide range of content—from feature films and short films to music videos and documentaries. One of the projects I’m particularly proud of is the music video for Karol G and Maluma ‘Tá OK,’ which we shot in Los Angeles in 2023. It was a major success and a highlight in my career.
Another significant experience was shooting the 2016 documentary ‘Road to Tokyo,’ which followed skateboarding’s journey to becoming an Olympic sport. We filmed across nine countries, and the project greatly expanded my perspective by immersing me in diverse cultures around the world.
What were you like growing up?
My passion for camera work began at a very young age. As a child, I was fascinated by my father’s camera—it sparked a deep curiosity in me, and I was always eager to be both behind and in front of the lens. I remember being around eight years old when a classmate introduced me to stop-motion animation. The creativity and magic of it completely blew my mind and left a lasting impression.
In my teenage years, I began filming skateboarding videos with friends, which became my first real hands-on experience with storytelling through a lens. From that point on, I never stopped filming.
