Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonovia Marie.
Hi Sonovia , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always been inspired by fashion, art, music, and storytelling. What started as a creative outlet became a passion for helping people express themselves through style and visual direction. Over the years, I’ve grown into a career working in fashion styling and creative direction across editorials, campaigns, and celebrity styling.
My journey hasn’t always been easy, but creativity has always guided me. Today, I use fashion and visual art to create meaningful stories, inspire confidence, and bring ideas to life in an authentic way.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like many creatives, I’ve faced moments of uncertainty, rejection, financial challenges, and times where I had to keep believing in myself even when opportunities felt limited. Breaking into the fashion and creative industry takes patience, consistency, and a strong sense of self.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is how important resilience is. Every challenge pushed me to grow creatively and personally, and it taught me to trust my vision even more. Those experiences shaped who I am today and continue to inspire the work I create.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a fashion stylist and creative director specializing in visual storytelling through fashion, editorial styling, and creative concepts. My work focuses on creating looks and imagery that feel intentional, expressive, and emotionally connected. I’ve worked across celebrity styling, editorials, brand campaigns, and e-commerce, helping bring creative visions to life in an authentic way.
What I’m most proud of is building a career rooted in creativity and staying true to my vision while continuing to grow in the industry. I think what sets me apart is my eye for detail, my ability to create stories through styling, and the way I blend fashion, culture, and emotion into every project. I always want the work to feel inspiring, memorable, and real.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I draw inspiration from a mix of fashion, art, music, and culture. Platforms like Pinterest, Vogue Runway, and Deed Magazine help me stay inspired visually and keep up with trends, editorials, and creative direction. I’m also heavily inspired by old-school music videos and nostalgic cartoons like Rocket Power, Doug, As Told by Ginger, and Pepper Ann. Those visuals, colors, and storytelling styles continue to influence the way I think creatively today.
I also love attending art shows, fashion events, and music festivals because real-life experiences inspire me just as much as digital platforms. I’m big on observing the world around me and turning everyday moments into inspiration.
