Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Baker.
Hi Sean, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started off as a kid actor, my cousin Malcolm Goodwin introduced me to the world of film at the age of 10 yrs old in a commercial entitled “Titan Safety Alarm System”. That project was my first and last acting gig until later on in life, where I recaptured my love for film in 2018 when I shot my pilot episode for my TV series entitled “Out The Mud”. I continue to write and create projects which led up to me filming my latest short film entitled “Double Dealings” which will be released in 2024.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I believe that the road to success will always have its ups and downs. As independent filmmakers, I believe it can be a tad bit tough to obtain budgets for projects that we strongly believe in. So for me, I believe the struggle is within creating bigger projects with bigger budgets.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an executive film producer, film producer, and screenwriter. I specialize in producing films, bringing the right people together to create a great and memorable film. I am best known for producing my two films “Out The Mud” & “Double Dealings”. The things that I am most proud of in my entire journey of filmmaking is one, taking an idea from my thoughts and making it a visual manifestation and two, helping other filmmakers, actors & actresses obtain their goals and showing them that it’s definitely possible to turn your dreams into reality.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Lol, I speak about this quite often but I believe 2020 Covid definitely took a bad luck turn in my career for my series “Out The Mud” being potentially funded but due to Covid the industry was in shambles. In terms of good luck, I just refer to good luck as a preparation meeting opportunity.
