Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Espinoza.
Hi Sarah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2018, I read the book “You Are A Badass” by Jen Sincero, and something in me clicked. I was in my late 20s and not where I had expected to be, so I decided it was time to take a risk, quit my job and follow my passions to see where it would lead me.
I started freelancing as a makeup artist on the first day of 2019. It almost felt like stepping into a new life for the new year. From the beginning it wasn’t easy, I went through an unexpected semi-break up and everything crashed down, but in that, I made a decision that I wanted to move to LA to further pursue my new path.
First year of business was rough, I ended just doing a lot of learning and unlearning about myself and spent a lot of time working on myself by creating new habits and adopting a new mindset.
The pandemic hit and put a halt on everything, but with my newfound mindset, I knew I had to find a way to pivot. During the pandemic is when I decided to switch from being a makeup artist to a content creator.
Just like my makeup artistry, I put my all into content creating and chose another new path. The pivot ended up being the best thing to ever happen and allowed me to finally follow my dream of moving to LA in 2022.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing is ever easy especially when you really want it, it seems, but I think that’s because you have to work hard to chisel and define the person you’re meant to be.
Starting a business and/or being an entrepreneur requires you to have a different mindset. All of the challenges are to help shape you.
The first struggle was the pandemic and pivoting so early in my new path. There’s always options of quitting, but there’s also always an option to pivot.
Another struggle is not having anyone to turn to. Sometimes, my new path felt lonely, and no one around me knew what I was going through and couldn’t help or advise me.
The biggest struggle is impatience and frustration. I learned that not everything is going to happen when you want it to, but you have to trust you’re exactly where you’re meant to be and you just gotta keep going.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Content Creator with a focus on Beauty, Confidence, and Mindset.
I’m definitely known for my Beauty content, but what I try to give my community is the gift of Confidence through Beauty.
I’m extremely grateful and proud of the community I’ve built that knows my heart and how I truly want the best for them. I used to do makeup on others and make them feel good for a day, but now I’ve found a way to do that through sharing my content.
I hope what sets me apart is being vulnerable and sharing my journey, struggles and wins, just so my community knows that every single one of them can do anything they want to too as long as they believe in themselves.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up my family would all say I was pretty quiet and shy and always in my own world. I would play alone a lot, whether it was outside playing make believe stories or with my barbies.
I always loved arts and crafts but as I got older, it evolved more into beauty, fashion, and modeling.
