Rising Stars: Meet Mike Giegerich of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Giegerich

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started interviewing metalcore bands when I was 15-years-old for a self-run blog called Music Michael Mind. Years of experience in speaking with my favorite artists led to joining Under The Gun Review where I was mentored by their editors and staff. I eventually pivoted my writing skills into a career in music publicity and represented an extensive range of artists across EDM, rap, pop, and other genres for seven years. My passion for communications and overdose prevention/response eventually led me to join End Overdose as their Director of Communications in 2023.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest obstacle was alcohol and drug use. At 21-years-old, I was faced with continuing to use substances into oblivion or get help and get my life back on track. I’m now over seven years sober and would not have my career without my sobriety.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m the Director of Communications for the 501(c)3 nonprofit End Overdose. I specialize in a mixture of public relations, collaborations with public figures, and content creation. I’m most proud of our work to bridge End Overdose and the alternative/rock/metal community. We’ve made leaps and bounds working with artists like Wes from Limp Bizkit and Garrett from Silent Planet.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
You can take End Overdose’s free online training and get free naloxone/test strips at endoverdose.net. No one else has to die.
