Rising Stars: Meet Marisa Herr of Rancho Santa Margarita

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marisa Herr.

Hi Marisa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I actually started content creation very casually as a foodie, just posting photos of meals, drinks, and places I loved for fun without really thinking much of it. Over time, my content naturally evolved to beauty and lifestyle, and eventually into motherhood, which has become my favorite chapter to share.

As my audience grew, so did my passion for creating. I fell in love with the creative process behind filming, editing, storytelling, and bringing ideas to life in a way that feels authentic and relatable. What started as a hobby slowly turned into something much bigger than I ever imagined.

Last year, I made the decision to leave my full-time job and pursue content creation full time. It was definitely scary, but also one of the best decisions I’ve made. Being able to build a career doing something I genuinely love while also having more flexibility to be present for my two daughters means everything to me.

Now my content focuses on motherhood, beauty, lifestyle, and the everyday moments in between.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not necessarily — I think one of the biggest challenges was dealing with self-doubt and imposter syndrome, especially in the beginning when social media can feel really oversaturated and unpredictable. There’s also a lot of pressure behind the scenes trying to balance creativity, consistency, and the business side of content creation.

Another challenge was taking the leap to leave my full-time job and trust myself enough to pursue this career fully. Now as a mom of two, balancing work, motherhood, and making time for myself can definitely be overwhelming at times. But honestly, I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything — every challenge has helped me grow so much both personally and creatively, and I feel really grateful to be doing something I genuinely love.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a content creator specializing in motherhood, beauty, and lifestyle content. I’m known for creating relatable, everyday content that feels authentic and easy to connect with, whether that’s sharing mom life, beauty routines, shopping finds, or the chaos and joy of everyday life with my two daughters.

What I’m most proud of is building a community where people feel comfortable, seen, and connected through the content I share. I never expected something that started so casually to grow into a full-time career, so I’m really grateful for that.

I think what sets me apart is that I’ve always shared my life in a very genuine way. I don’t try to make things look perfect, and I think people connect with the honesty in that. I also feel like my personal background shaped me a lot — I was born in Thailand and adopted at a young age by older parents, which gave me a unique perspective on family, connection, and motherhood that naturally carries into the way I create content today.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My husband deserves so much credit. He’s been my biggest supporter from the very beginning and really encouraged me to pursue content creation full time. Believing in myself enough to take that leap would’ve been a lot harder without his support.

My mother-in-law has also helped me so much, especially in this season of motherhood and balancing work and family life. Having that support system behind me has meant everything. It truly does take a village.

I’m also really grateful for the community I’ve built online, especially the motherhood community. I’ve connected with so many amazing women through different stages of life — from infertility and going through IVF to pregnancy and now motherhood. The advice, encouragement, and support I received during some of those harder moments truly meant so much to me and reminded me how powerful genuine connection online can be.
